Assuming they don’t trip up against 1-10 Charlotte next week Sumrall is coaching the highest ranked G5 team in the CFB rankings and basically has a play-in game for the playoffs.

Of course the retard who stabbed the two players at UAB was a former UK player.

Fayette county schools wants to use same firm that did audit at superintendents last job back in Texas. Superintendent got in hot water with financials in Texas, was investigated before he came here. Guess this firm swooped in then and gave him passing grades to cover up suspicions and he wants them to do it again here.

I’m too lazy to look it up but I’d like to know Stoops’ record against teams with a winning record vs teams with a losing record. He’s feasted on bad teams and turned that into a 14 year run. Which has led to the theory he has the best job in college football because at UK when you win 6 games and make a bowl you have a job for life. That should be a slap in the face to the program and to the administration but apparently they are ok with mediocrity. Anywhere else and he would have been run a long time ago.

That’s not exactly true because HE raised the standard and that strategy no longer flies.

Yesterday was abysmal and there is no excuse at all, nor is there a reason to even discuss the failures.

I still hope he beats UL and I hope he still is offered a job he’d consider taking. I don’t need Sumrall, but I want something different and that isn’t changing.

raised the standard to what? He had 2 really good years, a few decent years, and a bunch of sub .500 years. He beat a few good teams in the middle years but other than that he’s laid more eggs than I care to count. If he raised the standards then he sure as **** ain’t living up to them because we are right back where we have always been.

well I guess you didn’t read the previous post where it was stated at UK you could go 6-6 beating up on cupcakes and low hanging SEC fruit and make a bowl game and that all it took.

He made 8 bowl games in a row? Missed last year and has a shot this year to beat a UL team that’s falling apart make another.

Regardless he raised the standard to where that isn’t acceptable anymore.

It was never acceptable. Our athletic dept accepted it not the fans. With CFB moving at the pace it is my biggest fear is we get mitch 2.0 and this mentality continues.

That is the most simple argument and was made in spades this morning by adotwhite its not 1998 or 2015 for that matter the game has completely changed and we have failed to adapt 100 years of bad football has no impact on 2026 and beyond but the mentality certainly does.

If six wins is mediocrity what is a realistic expectation for UK football in the SEC?

Fire Mitch Barnhart
Yes -- but do we trust UK Athletics to go and hire new blood? If we are just going to get Marc Hill or another internal hire as AD, I might explode in rage.

Even effing Vandy realizes that in the modern era you have to cater to your fans and make them feel valued and provide them an experience. I worry Barnhart is such an egomaniac that he's going to try to ensure that his bean-counting, fan-hating ways will survive long after he's gone.

Anyone got that prick's email address? I'd like to give him some of my thoughts.

The last 5 years he’s 14-26 against the SEC with the majority of those wins against a down FLA & MISS ST, VANDY, SC & MIZZOU. Those standards get your *** fired at a school that is serious about FB. But, hey, we’ve been to some Bowls so let’s all be happy.

He may have built the standards around here at one point, which wasn’t that high a bar to top, but he is failing to live up to those standards. Getting boat raced by Vandy should have proved that.

I don’t see Lea’s name being tossed around for bigger openings as much as I would expect. Am I missing something? Too little of a sample size with him?

There is some skepticism due to Vandy being terrible for 3 out of the 5 seasons he has been there. He needs another successful season after this one to start garnering some hype. Otherwise people will attribute his success to a single player. I don't know how enthused a major program would be about hiring a coach with a losing record.

James Franklin made the leap after consecutive 9 win seasons. Lea needs to do that to solidify his coaching bona fides.

If Louisville does to UK what Vandy just did, Stoops SHOULD lose his job. I'm not sure Mitch wants to go down that road, though. I fear he's going to lean heavily into the wins over Auburn and Florida as signs Stoops is turning things back around., especially if UK loses a close game. If they win, Stoops will be back on his own terms.

When my ex-wife and I were on the downhill slide of our relationship, and things had turned pretty toxic, every now then when the kid was gone for the weekend we would get all dressed up on a Saturday night, go to a nice restaurant, see a show and maybe even have really good sex. Things would be pretty good for a couple of weeks and then she would be mad about the way I chewed my food and I was irritated that she was still breathing again. That’s what the AUB/FLA games were. A temporary reprieve from the misery, “lipstick on a pig” if you will.

Of course Top Button is going to lean on those wins, it gives him his out. He can point to those two lousy wins to justify keeping Stoops and not paying the buyout. Meanwhile we are right back where we started, wiping lipstick off that pig and back to the reality of what we are in bed with.
