So when is this rumored Mitch retirement announcement supposed to take place? We need an absolute no holds barred, killer AD to follow Mitch.
No one likes the current climate of college athletics with the Wild West of NIL, basic free agency and as we are witnessing a team that is being paid well, but acts like they could care less if they were playing for UK, but cashes checks while driving nice, fancy cars.
You don’t have to like it, but you had better have an AD who accepts things as they are and goes all in on maximizing the potential of the program within the current structure.
Mitch is the AD version of Denny Crum when the 3pt shot was implemented in the college game. He was in denial that it existed, while Pitino was using it freely and boat racing him whenever they played.
Mitch needs 0 say in who the next AD is, and if he does, if you think that we’re indifferent now, just wait.

Matt Jones says it will be before this Summer. So, who knows. That might mean he's staying until 2030...

As always, nobody has any room to *****. Win your games against quality opponents. Notre Dames quality wins are against USC and Pitt, who have no quality wins. Sorry.

Thus ends Heather Dinich season, hello Joe Lunardi!

love watching games in the snow. Seemed we had more games in snow when we were kids than we’re used to seeing now.

The more I think about that game, and the 3 other “big” games, the more pissed off I get. I can handle losing, I can even accept the fact that maybe we just aren’t as good as those teams. However, what I can’t accept is a total lack of effort and pride those bums have showed.

I’m also quite irritated with Pope, to some degree. Obviously we have no idea what he does or how he comes across off the court and in the locker room. I would have had more respect for him Friday night if he had sat 1-8 and put the scrubs/walk-ons in entire second half. Hell I wouldn’t start any of those bums next game either. They want to not give a **** then do it from the bench.

This team is a billion times better than those emo slap-dicks in the 2020-21 season.
I am physically sickened by the effort of this team. The effort of this squad is so putrid that non-UK fans like Rob Dauster are actually angry watching us play because it is an affront to the basketball gods.

This disaster is far, far worse than a bunch of scrubs playing in front of no crowds in a weird COVID year where every blueblood was down.

As Goodman and others have said, KY fans can deal with losing because us older folks have endured it during different times but what KY fans will not tolerate is poor effort and coaching. At the very least, Pope needs to get these guys to show a heartbeat or the fans are going to go full revolt on him.

Had lunch with my daughter today. She’s friends with Malachi. I dated a woman whose son was at GC the same time, and they hung out as sophomores and have stayed close. Apparently, there are one or two team girlfriends who are trying to get knocked up by anyone on the team. Poking pinholes in condoms; etc. The chemistry issue is confirmed; at least from her perspective and insight. She works at Malones with a best friend of one of these girls. TIFWIW.

So we pretty obviously turned down a bowl game considering all of the 5-7 teams ranked ahead of us in APR publicly turned them down and 2 teams ranked below us went to a bowl.

My question is how are we the only team that hasn’t been reported as turning down an invite?

This sounds similar to the rumors of a love rhombus amongst Zel, OO, Diabetes, and a certain player from the UK women's BB team that were being posted on TwitterX.

Eskimo brotherhood is about the only sort of brotherhood these jokers have demonstrated to this point, so I would not be surprised. Whether it is poonany, point shaving, or problems not yet revealed something more than bad roster construction is going on.

It would be the most Mitch Barnhart thing of all time to have the Ladycats go to the Final Four while one of their players causes drama in the sport that actually matters. That dork probably thinks a woman's Final Four and men's Final Four are the same level of accomplishment for an SEC AD, to boot.

If Pope doesn't bench Oweh tomorrow, I will lose all respect for him.

I’ve said it 10x already but I’ll say it again. This team is point shaving.

I was saying to some friends the other night, that's a strong accusation to make, so I'm not - but *if in theory* a team were point-shaving, these performances are exactly what it would have to look like.

Terrible passes, terrible shot selection, matador defense, pretending to try. On Friday night they looked like they had never played basketball before.

I bought tickets to Friday's game back in March. $246 for 2 tickets in the lower corner. Arranged for grandparents to watch the kids. We had to board our dogs because mother-in-law is afraid of them (don't get me started), which was $60. Drove 30 minutes to downtown Nashville, paid $25 for parking. Bought some drinks and food, totaling $89, so $420 all in for probably the worst basketball game I will ever see. How about Pope pull out his wallet and refund me that money instead of some BS Rupp Arena ice cream to win the press conference?

I booed my *** off, by the way. Awful experience.

With all due respect, the point shaving stuff is incredibly moronic. They were what, a 4 or 5 point underdog against Gonzaga? So they decided to lose by 40 and play some of the worst basketball in UK history just to make sure? Umm no. That's not how it works. It would be a hell of a lot more subtle as opposed to getting annihilated against any opponent this year that has a pulse.

I know it's hard for some people to accept this, but our roster and overall talent just sucks. Otega Oweh is a roleplayer who no longer has driving lanes without Brea, or Jax, or Almador standing in the corner and he's our best player. We basically kept all the worst parts of last year's roster and supplemented it with a bunch of other roleplayers. Genius Mark! I can't really speak for the chemistry issues, but Occam's razor is that we've just got too many dudes who think they should be playing. I can't imagine any of these guys are happy playing 20-25 minutes a game in 4-5 minutes spurts. Just when you're may start to be getting into the flow of the game... out you go. And of course, one miserable loss after another doesn't help.

If these guys got caught point shaving their entire basketball career would be over. They are not doing that.

The Seattle World Cup Organizing Committee designated one match in the World Cup as the official "Pride Match" to coincide with their Pride Events on June 26. Now that the matchups are officially set the "LGBTQ Pride Match" is between Iran and Egypt.

Given what I've seen of most soccer players, aren't all the games "pride matches"?

-No matter Mitch's departure date, I fear the new boss will be the same as the old boss. Marc Hill is a Mitch clone. No foresight whatsoever and if this Scores Act that Mitch is banking on doesn't pass, UK is in a world of hurt with this JMI deal per people who understand all of this.

-Couple of guys on Round of Shots last night, one I follow, Tres Terrell, and another I knew nothing of whatsoever but seems to really know his stuff (Paul of BleedingBNetwork) dismissed the girlfriend theory but said there are two prominent players who strongly dislike each other over playing time and/or money. Whatever it is, it's just exhausting. I'm not down on Pope like many others. I think he just put together a bad batch of ingredients and whatever is baking in the oven this year is inedible. He gets a mulligan from me for now.

-Got into a Twitter fight/exchange with Mark Buerger about Notre Dame not being in a conference probably a decade or so ago. With apologies to the guys in here that have a special place in their heart for the Domers, they have a ridiculous advantage that shouldn't exist. Join a conference or be permanently ineligible IMO. I have also been saying for that long or longer that schools who turn down postseason bids without evidence of hardship should be ineligible for postseason play the next year as well. Glad to finally have everyone else aboard as well. /end back patting.

-Not a fan of two first round games being rematches. Would rather have seen Vanderbilt in than the G5 schools and Notre Dame/BYU in a real holy war. Bummer.

Mark Pope is undeniably intelligent and kind.

Know who else was intelligent and kind? Private F’ing Upham. Who while fully armed, listened to two of his buddies get slowly murdered, didn’t do a thing about it, and was so unthreatening that the German soldier walked squeezed past him down the stairs and walked out the door.

Get your **** together Coach Upham.
