Hack is just too up and down. He'll go out and be house a fire one series, then can't throw the ball in the ocean the next. You could excuse a younger QB for that but not someone with 30? starts under his belt.

After seeing him as a frosh I thought he'd be dominant by now and he still could but jeeze.

What do you guys honestly think? Headcase? Different coaching/schemes? Was he overrated to begin with? I wonder if he just doesn't have the confidence/comfort he showed under BoB.

That sounds like a QB we all know and love. Someone who just left last year...who was that...

Think his two primary problems are gets rattled easily and slow feet.

Exactly and something along that line I edited into my post.

Gary had 4 OC's in 4 years. Had to be confusing at times and hurt his confidence. He never had a chance to settle in with 1 coach for a significant amount of time. Maybe Hack is having the same issues with Franklin's staff?

Yeah. But he still beat us twice.

Who's taking about RU? Do you really think anyone here doesn't know that PSU won the last 2 games?

Nothing is more obnoxious than these people who post these "yeah but RU blah. blah, blah" in discussions that have nothing to do with RU.

In the end he doesn't get the job done and a lot of that seems to be on him. It may be that years of sh*tty o lines have left him a neurotic basket case but whatever the cause he makes way too many bad throws, and by bad I mean throws to the 1st row in the stands.

As a freshmen he had a great line and had time to throw. People forget that he did have many errant throws and some crucial INTS. They were all excused as being a freshmen. Now the line is terrible and he is still making those same mistakes. When he has time he still lacks the accuracy and consistency he needs.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Saturday I saw Hack, with no pressure, badly overthrow on a number of passes. None of the throws appeared particularly difficult or deep. All were short/medium sideline to receivers who had space. Is this his usual problem?

Totally agree. This no place to bring up Rutgers football. Keep that for the OT board.

Yes it has been. He reminds me of a pitcher struggling. He aiming rather just throwing the ball.

Kiper, the guy who loved Brady Quinn and Joey Harrington?
There's a reason Matt Mullen is a ESPN talking head and not a GM. He listened to the hair from Baltimore is part of it.

Really when are people going to realize ESPN is not a news organization, but a sports promotion vehicle. They barely pretend to be objective.

This is the "Jeff Driskel" syndrome All the scouts and sportswriters had him #1 QB in the nation and
they all said Good freshman year he just needs to work thru some of his freshman adjustments
Then they all said sophomore slump he just needs to adjust to the speed of the game in college
Jr. year this is it he got to come around and he will make it
Does all this sound familiar. hackenburg is over rated, holds the ball too long, does not see the whole field well, has happy feet with any pressure and make erratic throws for no reason.

BUT THE SPORTWRITERS CAN NOT BE WRONG .....so he must be great everyone around him suck?????????

Hack just never developed like people expected. At what point do people say James Franklin had an NFL prospect and not only didn't know how to use him but was also the cause of his draft stock dropping significantly.

He isn't playing well because his coach is a moron. When he had a real coach he was first pick material.

He will be a good pro.
Bingo. He has regressed since O'Brien has left. It's all coaching up the talent you have. We witnessed it the one year we had Fridge. They are not great QB coaches over there.

Hack had these problems as a freshmen. These are nothing new. Then most just brushed it off as being a freshmen. Having a terrible line made them all the more noticeable. You can have the greatest coaching in the world but it can only take you so far. A coach can't make decisions for you on the field or control your accuracy.

A lot of people are wondering if Franklin's staff failed to develop him.

He will be drafted imo because NFL teams will think they can work with him and turn him into a decent QB. Maybe he won't go 1st round, but he'll likely be gone before round 3.
