I think I should mention that I don't consider this "charity". For example, I would never deduct it from my net income. NIL donations are nothing like serious charitable donations. It is more like a sports tip.
I am a monthly doner because I can and I care.

You raise a good point though. Viewed as a charitable contribution, NIL is in my opinion impossible to justify. Virtually ANY competing 501(c)(3) charity is more worthy.
As you say, it has to be viewed as a kind of "sports tip". Which doesn't work for everyone, I don't think. Some folks are just plain conscientious objectors. They don't believe scholarship players should be paid, and they sure as **** aren't going to be the payors.
I just made my first contribution. Even if it were deductible, it isn't enough to change my taxes in any event.
If I decide to donate more, I am going to need to up my charitable giving too.

No NIL for me. I'm not contributing to paying salaries to amateur athletes. I support college athletics not NFL farm system.
I attend many NFL games, Jets season tix too. Broadway shows, Jersey shore vacations, etc. Too many other activities for my recreational and entertainment funds.
I donate to R Fund, Big Ten Build, academic excellence fund etc. For the priority points and supporting other sports.

NIL goes beyond football and supports athletes in many other sports like basketball, lacrosse, soccer for example. You can donate to support a specific sport or the general fund where the monies get allocated as needed.
Have given a significant amount to KnightsoftheRaritan and encourage others to do the same.

I am a monthly donor to KTR from day 1, I have made a few one off donations to KTR, I still donate to RFund and the company my wife works for matches my RFund gift. (My company doesn't match athletic gifts anymore).
Nope. I did contribute to MFOGF. That's My Father's Only Grandson Fund. It provides tuition, books, and housing for Rutgers BA and M.Ed. candidates. Contributed over six figures when you consider loan interest.
Pretty similar, plus I donate more to RU academics, particularly to my old department (chem eng'g). When I was working I always donated more to academics than athletics, because my company didn't match athletic gifts.
Yes, I donate monthly to KTR. To be honest, I switched my donation from the R Fund to the NIL because it is currently the most impactful way for Rutgers to retain good players.
