Has anyone read the 3 articles on 4* & 5* players that Jean wrote?

A coworker of mine printed it out for me. It analyzes the impact of signing 4* and 5* guys over the last 5 years. If you are a stat junkie and have access, give it a read.

Couple of incredible stats...
Since 2007, UF has had an average of 75 4* and 5* signees on their roster.
Between 2008 and 2012, Bama has signed 84 4* and 5* players.
Since 2007, MSU averages 18 4* and 5* players on its roster.

Sorry if Germans.

I was actually surprised to learn we had an average of 18 on the roster. Much higher than I thought ... or observed.

Yet we still beat Florida @ Florida in 2010...

...I'll take a roster full of 4 & 5 star players any day of the week. But even that doesn't protect you from anomalies occurring.

I've known that for a while.

If you look at the teams that are consistently ranked - consistently considered among the best in the country - they tend to recruit around ten (or more) four star players every year. That's where the cake is built. With the four star players. Five star players are icing on the cake.

We're getting there. Between developing players through red-shirting and recruiting more talented players, I feel that we're moving in the right direction. It's just going to take a little more time to get our talent to that level.

Whoa buddy... While UF and Bama get the top players more than guys like us, a lot of 3 star players (our bread and butter) get bumps when big and bad Bama wants them.

They have talent leagues ahead of ours, but those stats are a little inflated.
