Have you ever personally stormed the field at Rutgers Stadium?

I can remember doing this twice. Once was against Army in 1998 as we won our first game against a FBS team in two years. It was a pathetic crowd storming with a handful of people but it happened nonetheless. We just wanted to savor a real victory for once and beating Richmond 7-6 didn’t count.

The other time was when we beat Navy in 2005 to become bowl eligible for the first time since 1992. That one was worthwhile.

11/9/2006 #15 Rutgers 28 - #3 Louisville 25
10/20/2007 Rutgers 30 - #2 USF 27

Don't think we rushed the RAC court after this game:
1/29/2003 - Rutgers 68 - Syracuse(Carmelo Anthony) 65

Was also at the 2004 NIT semi-final (Iowa State) and finals (Michigan) games.
Would have rushed the MSG court if we beat Michigan.
That run was great. As a student, waiting in the lobby of the RAC for tickets to be released then hopping on the train up to MSG and back for both games.

Yes, was it against Cincinnati the first time we became bowl eligible in many years?

UM in 2014. Figured we may never win another B1G game so might as well enjoy it. Thought about it for UL in 2006 but decided to wait for when we won the Orange Bowl that year. Something funny though happened on the way to Florida...

2004 vs Michigan State
2005 vs Navy
2006 vs Louisville
2007 vs South Florida
2014 vs Michigan

2011 vs Villanova in basketball when we came back from 14 down in the last few minutes of the game and Jonathan Mitchell won it with a 4 point play essentially at the buzzer.

They didn't let us rush the court after the Syracuse game.. I distinctly remember the guards holding us back.

2006 Louisville (sooo great, if you were at that game, why in the world did you not go in field? The guards open the gates and you can walk down, for future reference)
2007 USF (a really good scene too, tons on the field, Thursday night vs #2).
2014 Michigan (oh wait, people are going on the field, quick, let's go too kids).
Something I always think about before games is: Is this rush the field worthy if we win?
(We've been very close but lost a couple of those where it was a "yes" answer. state penn in 2014 and Louisville in 2012 stand out, plus snow game vs wvu. Those losses where we were oh so close hurt. I look forward to the next rush the field time with tons of fans as it's one of my favorite things about college football).

I was at that game. I don't remember rushing the field.
Could be wrong though. I distinctly remember being at the game with my girlfriend at the time. We might have not rushed the field (because of her).

I 100% remember it because as soon as we jumped the fence, I turned around and saw that my roommate twisted his ankle jumping down and I couldn't stop laughing.

Louisville and Navy.

UNLV in Hoops. Amusing b ball storming in that the poor Shark had to run the gauntlet.

PSU in Hoops was wild scene. Up there with Louisville.

In 2005, as a student, I stood there and watched everyone rush after Navy. I was a scrooge. I literally thought to myself, "it's great that we're bowl eligible, but I will rush when we win something that REALLY deserves it."

Luckily, my attitude was rewarded.

My senior year, 2006 - Louisville
2007 - USF

In 2014, after the Michigan win, I sat back and watched everyone rush. I actually enjoyed it more that way... in lieu of the chaos. I went back to the car and had some victory champagne.

2005 was Navy to become bowl eligible. That got us to 6 wins in an 11 game season. If you rushed Thanksgiving weekend after Cincinnati, it was just for fun. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well it was Cincinnati, wasn't sure of the year. I guess it was when we knew we were going to a bowl at that point.

The funniest one was in 2006 last home game vs Syracuse. I was a junior and remember hearing a student yelling, "Why?? it's Syracuse!" But I think we all just wanted to really celebrate that incredible season. Ran into Ray Rice on the field, in the chaos my friend just yelled "Hey, you're Ray Rice!". It was nice because we all gathered around the team as Brian Leonard lead the Rutgers band with the sword.

Solved the mystery!! I just messaged with my ex-gf.
We were at the game. Her grandfather died that day and she remembers finding out during the game. We are guessing she wasn't in the mood to rush the field so I didn't as well and we just left.

I've always wondered if I/we would have rushed the field at the Insight Bowl if we beat ASU.
I have vague memories of discussing this with my roommate and other students around me at the game.

Rutgers vs. Virginia Tech 1992:

50-49! Sophomore year... I'm in there somewhere! My friends and I were the front couple rows in the student section that day. We had painted our faces and actually got our picture on the front of The Home News sports section the next day.

Lousiville - didn't quite "storm" the field as we had to walk down the ramp from the upper deck first with my (then) 8 year old twins. Somewhere I have pics of them on the field with me, but it's a memory burned into my brain that I will never forget.

Also stormed the court after beating UNLV at the RAC. That was the first RU hoops game I ever went to as an undergrad. Talk about being hooked!

Was at Mich. St. (home opener in '04), Navy '06 (to become bowl eligible), Syracuse '06 (BL's last home game), and South Fla '07 but watched the storming from the stands. I thoroughly enjoyed them all from the different perspective.

Both these games as well. I was in the student section with my sister who was a student. Great experience. Also have a video where we ESPN caught us during a commercial (Louisville).

OK- how many of you rushed the field twice against Louisville? That is maybe the most amazing thing...Watched the field get stormed only to find out one more play was needed and how fast the fans cleared the field before rushing it again.
It is why that shot of us storming the field that night may never be duplicated, thousands of fans were already on the sidelines and ready to storm again.

Interesting note, 2006 and I think 2007, they allowed family members to go onto the field immediately after each game.

Yes the dumbest thing I ever did Louisville
@greenknight Need some deets on why it was dumb. I was on the field for our win over #2 USF and had a blast. Our win over Michigan was fun, but they let us on the field (smart move) and they weren't ranked, so not as emotional. But storming the field is pretty....damn....cool.

Damn RaRa, I was just in the middle of typing the same question to Greenknight about why he thought the L'Ville game was dumb. That is the exact type of game that a storm of the field is completely acceptable by everyone.

After thinking about it more, I recall that at 6 wins the bowl committees were still not sure we would be selected We needed to beat Cincy to be in for sure.

Yes, Centennial game, 1969 vs Princeton. Was tempted at the win over VT in '92, and 2006 win vs Louisville but just stayed in the stands and took it all in for the latter two.
