Have you ever personally stormed the field at Rutgers Stadium?

I stormed the field after..
Rutgers beating #3 Louisville in 2006 (my freshman year, and 2nd Rutgers football game ever)
Rutgers beating #2 USF in 2007 (sophomore year, after some idiot friends left at halftime)

Damn RaRa, I was just in the middle of typing the same question to Greenknight about why he thought the L'Ville game was dumb. That is the exact type of game that a storm of the field is completely acceptable by everyone.
Well would have been awesome in my 20s it's a little different when you are 40 at the time. It was crazy out there and everyone stunk like stale booze probably myself included. Once I got on I couldn't get off the field. I did have the camera zoom over my head a few times though. The field rushing days are over I'll leave that to the younger generation

I have actually never stormed the field. However for the Louisville game, I did take my daughters (8 and 11 at the time) on the field once the scene calmed down.

I was about 50 when I jumped the fence for the USF game. The field looks so soft and cozy from ten feet up after a win like that, and an instant after I had committed to gravity a seriously drunk student ended up directly under me. This caused me to push off awkwardly to not land on him, and I ended up sticking the ground at a weird angle and hurt my knee. I still ran around the field like a maniac--I ran into Kevin Brock twice and slammed his shoulder pads both times out of instinct. He was smiling ear to ear, as were all the players. Knee hurt for about a week, and it was totally worth it!!

I can remember doing this twice. Once was against Army in 1998 as we won our first game against a FBS team in two years. It was a pathetic crowd storming with a handful of people but it happened nonetheless. We just wanted to savor a real victory for once and beating Richmond 7-6 didn’t count.

The other time was when we beat Navy in 2005 to become bowl eligible for the first time since 1992. That one was worthwhile.

Yes...July 8,2015. I was visiting NJ / NY...and made the pilgrimage to Rutgers. My fiancée and I visited my old dorm (Hardenberg 437), the Commons where we met 50 years ago this month (Oct. 6th) at a dance most likely fronted by Lenny Kaye / the Zoo.

We also made it over to Johnson Park...it has changed a lot in 50 years / made it to the stadium. To my surprise there was no one guarding the stadium and I got to walk around and see the Birthplace Sign, the box seats / of course walked the field of dreams.

MO
PS And yes when we beat PSU, Michigan, OSU ...I'd storm the field (even though we've already beaten the Maize before).

No for football. Twice that I can remember in basketball: 1979 after beating Indiana State in the NIT at the RAC and then in 1981 at the Byrne Arena after beating UCLA.

It was in the 1965-1968 time frame verse Princeton. The goal posts were wood and part of it stood over the bar in my frat Sigma Phi Epsilon.

I've considered rushing the field a number of times, but it's a little difficult from Section 206.

USF in 2007. Halfway down after jumping the wall I remember thinking "damn this is farther down than I though...better tuck & roll."

Louisville 2006 and USF 2007. And you’re right, jumping over the wall after the Louisville game, I was thinking oh sh*t on my way down. Didn’t realize how big of a drop it was.

Fall of 1969 vs Princeton for 100th anniversary game won by RU 29-0 at RU Stadium. Regionally televised and a sell out at the old stadium. As a soph in a fraternity I was required w my former pledge brothers to bring back part of a goal post. We descended onto the field w about 2 minutes left in the game. To this day I remember the scene like it was yesterday.

Mission accomplished and soon after it was displayed in the the tap room at the house.

Life was simpler in those days.

Well, that makes sense...I think most of us thought that you thought it was dumb for the fans to storm the field in that game. A little side note for that night...Just before the game ended and everyone knew the field was going to be a shitshow...Kevin and Ryan Blaze volunteered to help one of our guys that got injured during the game(I think a WR, Tucker maybe) back to the locker rooms so he wouldnt get trampled. So, he ended up not being on the sideline at that moment when everyone rushed. He did come back out though a little after to join us.

The first time we beat Penn State at home will necessitate a field storming, no matter what the records or what Franklin thinks about them being our Super Bowl.

The next question is can we run onto the field as a visiting team? Say we beat a certain number 2 team in a few weeks

VTech '92 was bear-hugged by man-mountain Mike Theokas - and old friend - and nearly puked my guts up at midfield (started the day with Boone's Strawberry Fields, 'nuff said...). Louisville '06, eh, it was fun and my seats are close to the field.

I remember everyone storming the court after we beat Indiana State in an NIT game who had Larry Bird on the team. James Bailey who was the RU center on the RU team lived a few doors down from me in the dorms. As I generally partied until the wee hours and slept late, I remember being awakened hearing a few basketball players coming by in the morning to get him saying "What's the word?" he and the others would reply "Birds the word". For some historical context, this is the year before Indiana State and Larry Bird went undefeated until facing Magic Johnson and MSU in the NCAA title game. Anyway, after RU won, as I remember right at the end, everyone stormed the court and Larry Bird was not too happy. Something happened between him and an RU fan and I watched him deck the kid who went down bloodied.

bahaha I had the same thought, much higher than I expected. Tough on my knees but I didn't care. Cincy '05 when we became bowl eligible.

Two many to remember but my first storming of the field was 1999 beating Sarahcuse for our one and only win that year. Still remember being behind the goal posts as McDonald kicking the field goal to win it.

Funny to hear the deceptive height of the fence/field, I always warn my buddies , should we rush watch out for that jump. Friend of mine went over like a turtle on his back for Michigan storming.

My friends and I were up in the rafters. Too high to get down to the court but we saw him throw that punch. Great game

Lol no. It was crazy out there. To this day best sporting event I've ever been to. Nothing could match the excitement in the house that night...didnt help that I got the parking lot at 11am a tad early for me. I told everyone at work if my wife called tell her i was in the road she thought I was going to game at 4pm

The funniest one was in 2006 last home game vs Syracuse. I was a junior and remember hearing a student yelling, "Why?? it's Syracuse!" But I think we all just wanted to really celebrate that incredible season. Ran into Ray Rice on the field, in the chaos my friend just yelled "Hey, you're Ray Rice!". It was nice because we all gathered around the team as Brian Leonard lead the Rutgers band with the sword.
Haha I remember sitting in the makeshift student section end zone bleachers (now the actual student section) thinking it was pretty stupid to be storming the field for that game, so I stayed put. Looking back on it, I regret being so far away from Brian Leonard standing on the podium with the sword during the alma mater.

I've considered rushing the field a number of times, but it's a little difficult from Section 206.

Navy and Louisville.

I remember taking note of how high it was but after seeing all the young co-eds jump I knew I couldn't hesitate. I also knew the tuck and roll would have been excessive... It hurt.

Richmond me and my buddy Luke jumped on the field...security looked at us like we were nuts, we grabbed a handful of grass and ran off. Two man field storming!

I forget did we storm the RAC when we beat PSU for the A-10?

I was wondering the same thing. I was at that game but don't remember whether or not anyone took to the court.

Sometimes it's hard to tell with basketball at the RAC, anyway, because it seems like there's always people milling around on the floor after the game.

I did the exact same thing at the USF game. Could not believe how far down it was from the top of the fence to the field. The pretty green field looks so soft when you're delirious.
