At the end of the day going into the second half it started raining even harder and yes I must say it bad coaching why are you throwing the ball backwards what are you going for it on 4th down in your own territory...... If I'm not mistaken the pic 6 came from the backup quarterback on his first snap yeah they did give up I never seen a northeastern team give up

James Davis I’m glad you don’t have your blinders on. We both noticed that our kids completely gave up Friday night. I didn’t graduate from NE but I’ve been following them closely since I got transferred here with my job a couple years back. They are my adopted school in someways lol. How about that punt that NE did that almost went behind the kicker . I was sitting under the press box laughing to myself. What a train wreck of a game it was. I know some of the kids including our qb are still playing basketball but the NE faithful cant use that as an excuse. I’m just sorry, this wasn’t Trask coming to town it was the 3a dynasty Havelock Rams. We should’ve been focused and locked in for this one. This imo was the biggest game of our season. I’m going to see my boy tomorrow night and I can’t wait to hear his thoughts, I think anyway.

Wouldnt dwell on it too much first game of the year and its Havelock outside of Shelby they would probably beat most top 2A teams just as bad. They beat yall last year and you still ended up playing on State Championship Saturday. I still expext NE to be a load to deal with come playoff time.

Good wake up call for what should or usually is a good NE team. Not a bad loss honestly. Going for it on 4th down in 2qtr with a lead is suspect. Would have been a small victory to lead at half

When 2a teams play 3a teams you gonna wear down as the game goes on, we are deep like that this year. You can't expect your starters to go both ways thr whole half and then ask them to be strong in the 2nd half when our players are subbing in and out, it just aint gonna happen. I’m that poster that said that and I’ve ate my crow since. I stepped up and acknowledged that I was wrong. Yes Havelock is a powerhouse program but this years NE team is loaded. It’s easy for Havelock posters to come up here and act like it’s not a bad loss when their team won in a blowout. You reach the state cship game the year before. You return a ton of talent including your starting qb,rb,wr’s,and Freshwater. I think this calls for any sane Northeastern fan to think your going to be just as good or better. It’s only one game but it was a very important one at that. We had a chance to put all the critics and naysayers to rest and we caved. Winning at Clinton last year was huge for us, but getting that first outright state cship would’ve solidified us. It would be nice if we didn’t always have to say “just wait till next year”. The WRH, Tarboro’s, and SWO don’t have to say that. They’ve all been there and seized the moment . That’s just my take

I have been watching this post since it started. I am a southwest edgecombe fan that respects Northeastern. They have taken us out of the playoffs on numerous occasions. I can tell you this, Northeastern's Program in one of the top 2A programs in the State. They win big game after big game on a yearly basis. You wouldn't be going back to back State Championships games if you didn't win big games. Coach has to be doing a good job in my opinion. Looking at his record, it's simply amazing!! Fifteen out of Sixteen 10 plus winning seasons and 5 Regional Finals and 3 State Champioship Appearances in the last 10 years! Outstanding!!! I would love to have him.

Havelock came into Elizabeth City once again and absolutely embarrassed our Northeastern . Once the Rams shook off the first game jitters and got settled in after that long bus ride they put on a clinic. They were by far the better team tonight. They made it look easy against the Eagles. NE can make zero excuses, everyone was healthy this year and we had a lot of our key players back. I’m not writing the season off but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we were left out of the playoff field. For this Eagle fan this much anticipated matchup was hard to watch. 3 takeaways- why are we not throwing to #1 Jordan Jones? Kaveon Freshwater and #51 Jameson Fletcher are straight up ballers, they are going to be stars, thank heavens Jameson has finally gotten his time to shine. He was in beast mode tonight. Our announcer tonight was great!!! Loved how he interacted and included the Havelock fans when he was talking. Awesome Job, you were the main reason this Eagle fan stayed as long as he did.

Sounds like Havelock is the real DEAL! I looked up their roster and they returned 19 starters back from a year ago! That spells out greatness! I also looked up Northeastern and they have 15 starters back which is above average. I also see that Havelock basketball is down and Northeastern is playing for the Eastern Finals tomorrow. Sounds like Havelock is the real DEAL! I looked up their roster and they returned 19 starters back from a year ago! That spells out greatness! I also looked up Northeastern and they have 15 starters back which is above average. I also see that Havelock basketball is down and Northeastern is playing for the Eastern Finals tomorrow. If they have basketball players on that team it would have been impossible to beat Havelock. They wouldn't have been locked in at 80% on that game. They had about 8 that play basketball, but they won by forfeit the day b4 so its wasn't a fatigue issue. It was a very close game at half, they should have had the lead being up 15-12 b4 going for it with a min or so left in the half. That resulted in a long td run by havelock. Still it was 18-15 at halftime, those guys fought idc what they mad fans say.

Wining 90 seconds on the clock before half time. Went for 4th down in his own territory and failed to convert. One play later Edmonds scores for havelock to go up at half and steal all the momentum. NE never recovered from thia choke job. You can not make these call over and over. Same thing in the state title game vs Reidsville twice. You cant keep giving the man a pass. Northeastern would’ve beaten SWO in a blowout that year had they played.

I’m no Northeastern homer like some and I’m not a fan of some of the coaching staff in Elizabeth City but Coach Moore is a solid coach and a proven winner. Coach Moore has always been blessed with a ton of talent here and I would be curious to know how he’d fair at a school like Bertie or First Flight with a lot less talent.

Agreed, can’t argue with that at all. I attended both games against Reidsville. I was literally sick to my stomach in Raleigh. Northeastern fielded a lot more talent in that game than Reidsville did. Little Freshwater was a Freshman and was leading the Eagles in tackles that year but he had to sit out the final four games due to injury. Last season we would’ve gotten blown out if it wasn’t for that kicker we had. He kept the Rams pinned back the entire game, he put on a show and shined in the spotlight that day.

Lol what....... Follow along brother, I played at swo in the 80s. My two sons played at swo 2001-2005 and won two state titles. Waxed NE multiple times during that span. I have missed 6 swo games since 1999. No way associated with NE highschool or NE football lol.

Good post^^^^. Yea Reidsville was the better team last year. Our defense was very good though but they were helped out by the punter. Northeastern just got out coached the previous year.

Reidsville had did the same to Wallace rose hill the year before and it went to ot. And it could have been closer in the first half, fake punt for a Td. One of the td passes should have been intercepted vs northeastern

JR walker did leave because he saw the writing on the wall. He already had his scholarship in hand, went with his father to play better competition. It also stated 14 of the 16 years he has won 10+ games. I would take him right now in Cougar Land. Even though Raymond Cobb was my guy.
