Here is an RPI data set that doesn't look good for MSU

Im not surprised because our gimme wins have been against teams that are complete trash vs teams that are sort of trash

edit: want to add that I think we’re good this year. May not repeat 17-13 in conference but I think we are .500+

I'm actually surprised we're not worse. It seems clear we took the position that the SEC schedule is hard enough that we don't need to worry too much about strength of non-conference schedule. Maybe we were also surprised by Rice being that terrible?

Still hate the scheduling. It's not that you have to play good teams but ideally you wouldn't play teams that you know are going to be RPI killers.

And I'm assuming we knew Manhattan, Missouri State, and Queens were going to be RPI killers when we scheduled them (Queens is inside the top 200, but I am guessing all three of them will drop from where they are now when they get into conference play and start playing more home games and worse competition). Granted Arizon, Ok State, USM twice and Troy are all decent non-conference games, but when you pair them with 3 home series with teams that are going to be way down in the rankings, just seems like you are digging a hole unnecessarily.

Agree. This seems to be a team that it just depends on how they gel. Really depends upon player leadership. Best teams I have been on just had a feeling and confidence about them and it wasn't always about raw talent.

Just a quick thought/wonder. If something happens and Lemonis doesn't return next year, would any of you be ok with promoting Justin Parker? I know very little about him, but he does seem to help us in the pitching department.

Would he be an "ok" hire? Probably. Could we do worse? Probably.

But do we really see ourselves as the type of program who makes ok hires?

Not that the Lemonhaters here would notice, but if we'd gotten better pitching tonight and vs OK State we'd be 15-3 and 1-0 and the the attitude here would be very different. 7 runs should have won at least one of those games. We're not very far from having a nice start to the season.

You are one simple son of a bltch. Why don’t you flip over and watch Tennessee/Florida and compare those teams to us.

This Lemonhater is aware of the if and buts. Kindly explain Lemonhead mailing in the 2022 season and then following that up with emailing in the 2023 season. He did just enough in 2024 to keep his job.

Please give us reasons why this year will be better.

If, if, if. We didn't get better pitching because we don't have better pitching.

Seeing as how we still lost 4 NC games, it's probably a good thing we scheduled absolute garbage for 12 games.

There's no defending the level of bad in those two years, but he won a Natty at Mississippi State. He earned some understanding. We were much improved last year and we appear to be pretty solid this year. Time will tell.

I honestly find these emotional outbursts about Lemonis after close losses to good teams tedious and childish. So I say so.

Clear?

Very nice response.

For the record, I sincerely hope to be wrong and have Coach Lemonis turn it around and gets us back Ohama.

and if we'd gotten better pitching in '22 and '23 maybe we wouldn't have finished last and next to last in the conference. And maybe last year we would have hosted instead of going on the road. And if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's azz every time it jumps, but it doesn't so.....

Why is it so wrong to show concern about the state of our baseball program and criticize Lemonis for not having “our” team totally prepared. Can‘t throw a ball from 3rd to 1st. Can’t catch routine fly balls to the outfield. Leave hundreds stranded on base cause our players can’t hit in pressure. Make stupid base running errors that little league players don’t make. The same has happened for last 2yrs. Does that sound like a well prepared baseball program?

Yeah he did.

And then in a season when it was truly on the line for him, he got his team back to a whisker from hosting and a reasonably good showing at Virginia. Earned this season with that one.

So here we are. Why the 17 do we have to read these constant ***** sessions after every 17'n loss? Most reasonable fans believe he earned this season.

Let it play out with reasonable discussions of what's going on without every 17ing post being some childish name calling of the HC. It's 17ing exhausting...

14th best non-conference record in the SEC. With one of the weakest schedules.
This is not a good look for Msu Baseball, Lemonis had everything he needs and won with what was handed to him. But his laziness cost us two bad years and now the ship is again gathering water in it again. I'm afraid it will sink! We pay him well enough to be one of the highest in country, 65-million-dollar investment on a baseball stadium says alot for not getting much on our return now days.

Last year was an average year. Average. We weren't within a whisker of hosting, not that it would have mattered if we were. And Virginia was always the better team, we were never a real threat to win that regional.

Agree to disagree.

We were almost certainly a win or two from from hosting. That's pretty damn close.

We lost the first game to UVA by a single run and the 2nd game was a battle until the complete pitching meltdown late. When you finish 2nd and are competitive with a CWS team in their place, you're better than average.

Got to win games, that is bottom line.

Absolutely.

Same issue last year. We lost too much early. Only silver lining this year is we're losing to good teams, unlike last year.

But we are losing way too many close games and it's concerning. It'll probably turn around like most things in baseball, but it's not fun right now.

Bottom line is we shouldn't have been in the situation at least two out of three years. Finishing last or at the bottom in the SEC isn't MSU Baseball. We need to host this year and that is going to be iffy as we are behind several Sec team right now!

I think it's hard for a lot of fans to concede that he earned anything from last season when the only reason that he was still around in the first place is that our admin was not prepared to pay his buyout in '23. Furthermore, while I agree that no reasonable fan should ever expect a coach to be fired following last season's result, having to travel to someone else's regional and getting knocked out is never going to be considered any kind of success for this program. The only reason that it's viewed as anything remotely good is due to the depths that Lemonis had sunk too during the prior two years.

All that said, I do agree that there's not much point in moaning and groaning now. All we can do is let the season play out

Lemonis needs to be fired immediately. We have a bunch of talent on this team and it is being wasted because of stupid mistakes that junior high teams make. Good teams don’t drop games to the Sun Belt.
