Some interesting stats

17-10 vs. lefties
12-13 vs top 25
2-8 vs. top 10
16-15 when scoring 5 runs or less and UVA has allowed 5 runs or
more just 19 times in 60 games." (Lol at these because he points out that we've lost a bunch to top teams, and fails to realize that no one else in the country has played that many top teams)

"Hopefully our bats will be loose, our pitching confident, our
gloves constant, and our fans boisterous. 'Hoos in 3." ( "boisterous fans" ha)

Sports in the north just ain't the same, is it?

UVA led the ACC in on base percentage and slugging percentage. They are a tough draw.

Thought draw for sure, but doable. Large field, they're a young team, and the ACC is tough, but unless they had the ACC equivalent to our **** job schedule, we've been better prepared. We've been hitting really nicely now, so if we can keep that rolling I think we'll be just fine.

Of course they're a tough draw, it's the 17n Supers. They just didn't look dominant against lower competition than what we faced. This series will go to Monday, but the Dawgs will come out on top as long as our pitching stays consistent and our bats stay hot

UVA in the North, huh? Interseting perspective- it helps to better understand the rest of your reasoning in the post.
They were apparently 19th in D1 attendance last season. Looks like you are correct- they do have fans that actually care about baseball.

That stat is not hard to do once you get out side the SEC.

I sense there will be another "Sixpack remembers" thread come out of some stray Virginia fans similar to our Clemson friend. Just got that vibe from their board. Hopefully they can provide something more original than Mississippi jokes.

A lot of those numbers that were "quoted" at the top of this thread are inaccurate (ie. 12-13 vs top 25...UVA only has 10 losses total). I think this series is going to be a dogfight (no pun intended lol). But here is an accurate statistic: UVA is 9-1 vs remaining teams, MSU is 4-7. Looking forward to a hard fought series and may the best team win! Good luck guys.

So you beat up on your ACC opponents? We couldn't beat Vandy. Take away Vandy - we were 4-3. Take away the two LSU losses but keep the one LSU win - we were 4-1.

I spent a lot of time in Western Virginia where both UVA and VT are located. These people are like Arkansas hillbillies. It's unreal how disconnected they were from the rest of the country. They make West Virginia folks look good.

If you want to penalize us for beating teams who have been ranked in the Top 10 most of the 2nd half of the year, who happen to be in the ACC..go for it. Why don't you just subtract 1 more loss away and say you were 4-0, sounds even better. Matter of fact, don't count the loss to Central Arkansas either, clearly a top tier program. We have lost 3 games at home all year by a total of 4 runs. Didn't come here to pick a fight, but come on, let's get real. We are both top tier teams, both playing well at the right time. You guys have a great fan base. One of my friends pitched for you guys when Pat MacMahon came from ODU (Brett Wheeler). Can't wait to see some great baseball.

All the SEC couldnt possibly draw more, but if so, then they were 5th in the nation outside the SEC.

Not sure what the point of your post was, it seems like you were saying the stat doesnt mean much...i guess, but it sure seems like 19th in the country for attendance, regardless of sport, shows that fans care about the sport.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say a lot of "Arkansas type hillbillies" don't attend UVA.
Not at all. But the wife of one of my buddies' who is attending UVA-Law posted a picture on instagram of a ~300lbs bald guy with a pony tail wearing a UVA tank walking into a game the other day.

It's 2 hours away from DC and I imagine UVA baseball tickets are a fraction of the cost of National tickets (especially considering traveling costs). I'm sure there are a ton of uneducated bandwagon hillbilly fans. To be fair we get the same thing with EMCC dropouts.

I have not seen any stats but if I had to make a blind bet the SEC would have the highest attendance. I could lose that bet. When you look at the top 25 largest on campus crowds the SEC has all 25 of them with five of them comming this season.

UVA deserved its national seed and gets to play at home. MSU has played teams as good or better than UVA this year but did not fare very well in those games, so on paper, UVA is definitely the favorite.

I guess I'm in the north too, even says it in the name of the state, but want to reiterate that we were 10-1 against the top 10, have won more games than any program in the country over the past 5 years and are shooting for our 3rd trip to Omaha in those same 5 seasons. Oh yeah, something like 3rd in RPI. I'm not guaranteeing anything but I'm confident you'll find us a tough "out".

there are a lot of adjectives you could use to make fun of UVA fans... "arkansas hillbillies" is most definitely NOT one. ]check with our rivals and get back to us ;)

look forward to a competitive series

Hey you little turd, I hate you. Mainly because you pull for a school that is the yankee version of Ole Miss, but also because, come this Saturday, you're going to find out what southeastern conference baseball is all about. Until then, go play in traffic or something.

Do you really think we're going to win in Charlottesville easily? UVA is a great team. I hope we beat them, but they're definitely the favorite this weekend.

The SEC is the toughest baseball conference in America. I firmly believe that. But it ain't like football where it's the SEC and then everyone else is a notch below. The ACC is just slightly behind the SEC when it comes to baseball. Hell, there's a decent argument for the ACC being a better conference.

I agree. The ACC isn't as good as the SEC, but it's very good. I definitely think we have a chance to win up there, but it would be a pretty big upset.

Nice. I can see Hoo the bully is on this board. I apologize for pointing out a few facts about UVA baseball; guess I'd have been more welcome if I'd come over here calling you names. Guess Ole Miss is the classy school down there. Good luck.

I didn't hate this guy before, but the subtle Ole Miss compliment just gave me a blanket reason to hate all UVA fans.

Exactly. Even in football, when Bama/LSU/Florida/UGA are head and shoulders over the rest of the world, does that ever mean we would beat a top five team from another conference? On the road? It certainly didn't mean we could beat the Ole Miss of Evanston on January 1.

O **** I knew it wouldn't take long! Our first "classy" argument of the super regional.

Did you know Clemson's campus and constitution were modeled after MSU's?
I can't wait until their fans see Holder's mullet.

Because I'm a terrible person and didn't know better I checked out their forum and they're taking every sarcastic statement we say seriously and throwing out every "Mississippians are dumb" stereotypical insult.

Sports fans who use "not classy" and "stupid" deserve to have their fandom stripped. 1) Not that I give a damn about classy, but our fans are well documented as the best fans in all of baseball. Mercer's coach mentioned how their players spend the pitching changes talking to fans in the outfield and getting food from them and there were two pictures that surfaced 2 weeks ago of USC's outfielders eating with some of the fans in left field. My friends from high school who went to USA who stayed with me this weekend mentioned 100 times how nice people were to them for just wearing USA shirts. 2) They're on their forum bragging about Faulkner and Grisham "seeing the light and coming to UVA"... so we're obviously not stupid if they're bragging about stealing two of our most famous authors. 3) Come up with something original that insults the team, not the fan. That's bush league.

I seriously doubt you'd have that record if you had to play Vanderbilt 4 tines, LSU 3 times, South Carolina 4 times, Arkansas 3 times... Our regional was pretty damn hard, too with 40+ winners like Central Arkansas/South Alabama/Mercer...;. not freahin laughers like the mighty Army, and Elon.
