Tough lose for Hibriten. Doesn't get any easier in Black and Blue. West Caldwell lost a heart breaker 43 to 37 on a hail Mary. Both teams will be hungry

truth be told, west rolling into black and blue week coming off heartbreak would’ve actually been ideal. games like that, the ones that take an emotional toll on you, are often difficult to quickly put behind you and regroup/refocus for the next game. classic situation where a team let’s one game beat them twice.

but maxpreps is reporting west got blown out by rs, 36-7 ?

either way, for us it should be a very straightforward, no nonsense kind of week. coaches shouldn’t have any trouble getting the players full attention this week. rivalry game aside, it’s an absolute must win … even this early in the season. you start off 0-3 and the season can easily spiral and get away from you quickly.

Wow I am trying to figure out who was the poster that predicted that this was a very winnable game for the Huskies in their earlier comments? Huss always has athletes and speed, remember that.

i didn’t realize huss had a stable of athletes … and then last night he mentioned “it’s a track meet” … i’m sorry, come again ? over the last two decades god knows we havent always been the best team … but i can count the number of times on one hand when we weren’t the fastest team on the field
s*** happens …

Not to mention Hibriten hasn't lost to West since 2002. No sense in ending that streak now.

ha i was on that william lenoir middle school soccer team that broke our streak of 100+ consecutive wins … it was a big deal all over the unifour … yeah, not something you want to put on the resume

Special teams!
Very important........

what was the situation/atmosphere when we held a two td lead (21-7) ?

surely the staff noticed huss had speed and big strike/play potential

you’d think we would’ve tried to slow the game at that point. chew clock with sustained drives and then don’t give them anything cheap … make them have to drive the length of the field to score

I’ve seen Hibriten play several times over the last 30 years. Some big games too. Hibriten always has athletes but I’ve seen them play Freedom, Hickory, Newton, etc and have less speed than them on several occasions and sometimes more, not to mention the Shelby’s, Butlers, West Rowan’s, etc they’ve faced over the years.

My takeaway after watching the Panthers has always been their superiority and toughness in the trenches. They are extremely well coached and disciplined.

The truth is most teams in this state have athletes and speed and in 3A/4A it’s less of a factor.

What’s going on with the Panthers this year?

They have no speed! Outside of the QB they’re slow compared to the last few years. They are also verrrrrry small compared to past teams. But we will play hard and compete.

Honestly I figured Huss would lay down once they got behind 2 scores. Credit to them for not. Both teams had a couple time consuming drives but alot of big plays too. It was a back and forth game. Penalties and turnovers hurt both teams as well. It's kinda what you expect for the 2nd game of the year.

The Huskies will be fine. Give them time to build that run game. The offense will get better and the defense has a lot of speed

The trenches aren’t near where they were the last couple of years… Just a cycle where the size just isn’t there right now
