Thanks for noticing, but maybe a deeper dive of information is necessary. We always have a few kids that look good getting off any bus, especially a luxury cruiser, but no-one looks good getting off our bag of rust bolts Cougar bus. Our rosters have not been built with D1 types but we have a few playing below that level. I think the only kid on a D1 roster right now is Mallik McGowan who is buried in the depth chart at UNC. Two kids on this team our bound for D1 the QB and our TE. After a few get off the bus it is pretty clear we are not overwhelming anyone with size.
This year we may have two really big kids, one on each side of the ball but overall we are not so big or jacked.
On defense we have one big dude a NG who is a 6.1 300lb kid, who is a good space eater. The other DL's are OK 220, 220 and 205 and all the LB's are around 185. The safeties are about the same size as our linebackers about 175/180. We are uncharacteristically suffering some issues on the defensive side of the ball. We are young 9 juniors starting, and we may be having more mental issues than physical issues in the secondary. Next week is a huge challenge as Providence Day has lots of weapons, best QB in North Carolina and great wideouts. They may have to bring out the calculator to keep score if the secondary does not execute better. We are not a team that can afford poor execution.
We have more seniors on offensive side of the ball and are talented in different places than typical. Our Qb is very underrated, but our backfield is not big or jacked. Our LHB is 165 lbs and our RHB is 170. Our fullback has really worked hard and is now 200 lbs. They are the type of backs we typically have, they run hard and block very well but these guys are not explosive. If you are a back at Catholic you either block or you don’t play. If you look hard, you will see a few kids that are no longer on campus the we counted on to be game breakers ... one at Christian and one at Hough.. Right now, it does not seem like are good enough to start at either place, but one was good enough to play and make an impact as a freshman for us especially in the state championship game and the other would have been our best running threat.
We also have one big one on the OL just like the DL and our two TE ends might look good getting off any bus. The TE are juniors as well. The other OT is less than 200 lbs.
Right, I can see Big Daddy taking your comments and suggesting our jacked guys get better nutrition than the public school kids from our complementary training table and good steroids from the on campus pharmacy, which is about as accurate as the other BS he makes up as he goes.
