Catholics Offense looked REAL good VS. South Mecklenburg. They returned 10 starters on that Side of the ball. Defense only returned 2 starters and gave up yards and a good handful of points. CC is trying to outscore people till the D comes around, so this could be a high scoring game

Hard to cipher this game. CC less talented but smart, experienced on offense will need to control the clock and TOP to have a shot. The arrow points toward the middle. Would love to see this one.

Was at the Cath-South game on Friday. Catholic can move the ball effectively through the air and on the ground. Their defense is young and a little porous at this stage, It is going to have to grow up quickly. Uncharacteristically, they committed a lot of undisciplined, unnecessary penalties that will cost them dearly in a close game. A lot to clean up. Hickory Ridge is picked as the preseason favorite in their conference if you go by the posters from the other teams. They have size and they too can score. Huss was a soft opener so they will have to step up their game. No predictions other than mistakes and momentum will determine the outcome. Neither team will want to get into a early hole. HR athletic department might need to add a third digit to the scoreboard as it may get lit up at this game. Both teams will definitely have better idea of their capabilities after this game.

The way this game ended lol. I could hear the HR fans in the stream. They were absolutely disgusted with how the game ended.

Final score Catholic 35-Hickory Ridge 34. Great game to watch even if you had no dog in the fight. These two teams were evenly matched and if they played 10 times would probably split 5-5. For one prediction, I can claim to be Nostradamus and it doesn't happen often. I wrote on another thread that it would take at least 5 touchdowns to win this one. Hickory Ridge struggled to stop Catholic's running game until the 4th quarter. Catholic defense couldn't lay a hand on HR's quarterback as he constantly extended plays by evading almost certain sacks and picking up big yards with both his arm and feet. Regulation ended at 28-28. The overtime was a little goofy, however. Catholic got the initial possession and scored on the first play with a pass. The PAT was blocked but they were offsides. Automatic dead ball penalty and 5 yds. marched off. Both units had pretty much left the field and had to be called back. They get a redo and make it. Essentially rewarded for making a mistake. HR scored quickly on their possession. They decide to go for two and end it right there. They seemingly got 5+ yds all night on any play. They also jump offsides. With the ball now spotted at the 8, they decide to go for the 1 point conversion and extend the overtime. The center sails the snap over the holder and kicker's head. Ballgame.

Often you hear Catholic doesn't look that tough or intimidating getting off the bus, but I dont know if I would say that this season. They look like they have a more than a few giants(on video anyway).

You were obviously focused on the offensive line and not the defensive backs. Everyone looks big in pads but Catholic does look a little better getting off the bus, at least initially. After the 1st 10 however, and some are underclassmen just for the optics, back to the scrawny armed NASA interns.

True, but even the backs(offensive) look pretty jacked, you had to look hard to find a scrawny kid or 2, which yeah I saw maybe 1 in the secondary.

Thanks for noticing, but maybe a deeper dive of information is necessary. We always have a few kids that look good getting off any bus, especially a luxury cruiser, but no-one looks good getting off our bag of rust bolts Cougar bus. Our rosters have not been built with D1 types but we have a few playing below that level. I think the only kid on a D1 roster right now is Mallik McGowan who is buried in the depth chart at UNC. Two kids on this team our bound for D1 the QB and our TE. After a few get off the bus it is pretty clear we are not overwhelming anyone with size.

This year we may have two really big kids, one on each side of the ball but overall we are not so big or jacked.

On defense we have one big dude a NG who is a 6.1 300lb kid, who is a good space eater. The other DL's are OK 220, 220 and 205 and all the LB's are around 185. The safeties are about the same size as our linebackers about 175/180. We are uncharacteristically suffering some issues on the defensive side of the ball. We are young 9 juniors starting, and we may be having more mental issues than physical issues in the secondary. Next week is a huge challenge as Providence Day has lots of weapons, best QB in North Carolina and great wideouts. They may have to bring out the calculator to keep score if the secondary does not execute better. We are not a team that can afford poor execution.

We have more seniors on offensive side of the ball and are talented in different places than typical. Our Qb is very underrated, but our backfield is not big or jacked. Our LHB is 165 lbs and our RHB is 170. Our fullback has really worked hard and is now 200 lbs. They are the type of backs we typically have, they run hard and block very well but these guys are not explosive. If you are a back at Catholic you either block or you don’t play. If you look hard, you will see a few kids that are no longer on campus the we counted on to be game breakers ... one at Christian and one at Hough.. Right now, it does not seem like are good enough to start at either place, but one was good enough to play and make an impact as a freshman for us especially in the state championship game and the other would have been our best running threat.

We also have one big one on the OL just like the DL and our two TE ends might look good getting off any bus. The TE are juniors as well. The other OT is less than 200 lbs.

Right, I can see Big Daddy taking your comments and suggesting our jacked guys get better nutrition than the public school kids from our complementary training table and good steroids from the on campus pharmacy, which is about as accurate as the other BS he makes up as he goes.
