Wasn't Hicks moved to the D last season for a short time?
Seems ( just a guess) like the kid might feel Flood doesn't think he's good enough to be in the RB rotation.
Can't be a confidence builder being moved 2 years in a row from RB to DB.

It probably becomes a favorable thing for Hicks - versatility, ability to step up and physically & mentally quickly adjust to different roles - likely the best set of events for him under the circumstances - he is not going to get a chance to become a statistical game dominator at running back with the rotation system being rigidly adhered to - - - so better to willingly show skill sets at different positions and a 'use me anywhere' attitude - certain NFL coaches just love to have guys like that.

Think the articles says Hunt is ok. Only other safeties are Hampton Clayton and Hester. I wonder if this means he gets no reps at RB this week? That would more Martin and James.

It's in an article by Duggan, which I will not link.

Why not Laviano to safety?

How stupid do you have to be to take one of our few solid offensive players and move him to Safety against a team that runs the ball 95% of the time? Put one of our undersized LB's in the game in place of a SS and play a single FS. Watch Hicks get hurt trying to tackle against an cut-block option offense. Flood simply infuriates me. He's nothing but a large walking *******. Douchebag.

Guys...coach Flood is putting players in position to give RU the best chance to be 1-0 this week.....and he has lost his mind.

Hicks is a star rb and has a chance to have two great years.

When will this incompetent self interested caretaker be relieved of his duties?

Do have two other solid RB's.

How do you move your 2nd or 3rd best offensive player (1st or 2nd with Carroo not 100%) to defense with 2 games left in the season?

Flood has officially, "Jumped the Shark" with this move. You have a third down back in Goodwin who can't pick up the blitz to save his life and you move arguably your best RB to safety. I sorry this is a crazy bat sh*t crazy move. Goodwin has played at DB before if he doesn't want to make the move tell him not to dress that he's sitting home for not being a team player. He's useless as a RB. This coaching staff never ceases to amaze me. And don't give me that O we have two other RB's b*llsh*t. Hicks is one of the best and James hasn't played in two games now. It's a move no other coach in the country would make only Kyle "bat sh*t crazy" Flood would.

Maybe Fludd is playing mind games with Army??? He really can't be that stupid, can he? I mean who takes your best or 2nd best back and put him at db in game 11. It not like playing Db is hard or anything like that.

Either that, or he's higher than giraffe snatch. Are there drug tests for coaches?

I hate Flood so much....

Do not believe any RU coach ever created such feelings toward him. It's beyond this guy cant coach and we need a new coach. It's outright disdain.

On that alone you cant run the program. He's 1-0 in doing what he feels will save his own hide.

I really believe that this man Flood is trying to destroy Rutgers football. He cannot be this stupid. I was a Flood follower but no more.

Its not too hard vs Army. Its one team in America where the white guys cant throw and the black guys cant catch (hence the option)

Calm down. Cioffi suspended, Clayton hurt, Hunt hurt. Stable of RBs available and not enough reps to go around. Hicks played D last year as well and he's a big, fast young man capable of playing up to stop the run.

Yeah, while we are at it let's move LB Gause to WR. Need some depth there.
