I do not have the answers but this is a game where our athletic department needs to go all out on distributing tickets to students and to have them in place before kickoff. Need to figure out a way to give them an event space where they can congregate before the game NOT in New Brunswick. Been a long time since the Alley and someone has to come up with a new pitch

Any suggestions

Here is my idea. Start the Scarlet Walk at The Barn with Double Decker buses so the students can see all the players. Have Rutgers buses behind them for the students to follow them over to the Stadium.

They go through a Scarlet Walk every home game. It just starts on campus this time. Not a big change for them.
Yeah but it’s done the same way every home game. No extraneous distractions for the players IMHO.

Give five TVs away before Excalibur makes the entrance, and what the heck, another five after the start of the 4th quarter. Cheesy, but the kids love those TVs. Hahaha.

Waterloo battleground is in Belgium I thought? Great roads to ride bicycles in both Belgium and Holland.
they offer a tours from Amsterdam, it's not far

Europe is NOT like the states for distance to many things

Isn't that in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium? I'll be in Belgium for over a week but not near there.
yes it's close and nothing is far there, make the trip if you can

I did it 2yrs ago from Amsterdam, was about 2hrs

I had been once from France on an extended 'seeing ****' trip when visiting family for a summer. very cool place and you can see, like the fence at Gettsyburg, how the French got logged. well that an not committing ground with calvary but another debate.

I'm going to Amsterdam for the first time this coming spring. I'll pass on the Red Light district however. It's a cycling trip.
It's funny you and Newell mentioned Amsterdam as my wife and I were just talking about it and I was remembering my 2017 work trip through much of Europe, as I was visiting 4-5 of our contract manufacturers in Italy and France, but I scheduled it for Easter time, when Europe largely shuts down for 4-5 days, so I had those days to myself and added in Venice, a drive across the Alps, Sion, Basel, Cologne, Heidelberg and Amsterdam to my itinerary, with 2 of those days in Amsterdam, which I just loved. Such a beautiful city with great art, architecture, parks, bars, restaurants and incredibly friendly people. And as I'm sure you know, an incredible cycling culture with bikes all over the place and so many streets with bike lanes that are strictly enforced.

That is my 11 day schedule is all about. All rides in Belgium are in the Flanders region. Amsterdam first day is to the town of Zandvoort on the North Sea and the National Park nearby.

Assuming we have decent weather (no rain) the students will show up (albeit maybe a little late) and it will be packed by mid 1st quarter.

The only way to keep the student section fills is to keep it no more than a 10-14 point game into the 3rd.

I would be more concerned with the other seats at SHI. With tickets starting at around $90 due to dynamic pricing - they will be gobbled up by front running OSU fans and instead of the casual Rutgers fan Who doesn’t have season tickets.

Colgne and Hamburg are on my bucket list. As in drinking buckets of great German beer! 🤣

Our student section is very good. It would be better (and arrive earlier) if we let the students drink like most schools.

Did Cologne last year. The kolsch (obviously) was flowing. They serve it in small glasses so that you are always drinking it cold. They just keep coming back and refilling. You indicate you’re done by putting the coaster on top of the glass.

Haven’t done Hamburg, but did do Bamberg, which is famous for their smoked beer (Schlenkerla).

Rutgers should do something unique like $1 pizza day sponsored by Pizza Hut. Maybe they could do it till the end of the first quarter or something like that.

How about raffles for the students for 2 all paid expense trip to Rutgers Bowl Game. Give away 5 trips in 1st quarter and 5 in the fourth quarter. Must be there to win
Great idea but it just might cost a NJ Transit ticket and a subway token. If its in NYC it should be a limo to the game.

I hear that Cologne is beautiful which is nice but I'm mostly going for the Kolsch lol. Hamburg is famous for it's WeiBbier (wheat) and Pilsners. Hamburg also has several new breweries make award winning craft beers including IPAs

I wasn't that impressed with Cologne, probably because it's so modern, given how it was nearly leveled in WWII and I had just come from Heidelberg, which was largely spared Allied bombing during the war, so it retained its baroque charm of narrow cobblestone streets and beautiful old houses. I also had a fantastic meal at a 400 year old German restaurant, Schnookeloch, where they appear to have perfected wienerschnitzel and potatoes (and beer). But to be fair I only spent about 8 hours exploring each city, so my impressions were limited.
