  • The Bible also says wearing clothing made of multiple materials is wrong.
  • One verse says "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads" which from I am reading is interpreted to mean not to cut the hair on the side of your head
  • Another verse basically says anything that lives in water that doesn't have fins and scales shouldn't be eaten.
  • It supports slavery on numerous occasions.
  • It supports sex slavery
  • It says people who curse at their parents shall be sentenced to death.
  • It says that females that engage in premarital sex shall be stoned to death.
  • It says boys who disobey their parents shall be stoned to death
  • It says if a person is a wizard or a witch then they shall be, respectively, stoned to death and sentenced to death
  • It says if a woman is "loose" and is the daughter of a clergyman then she shall be burnt with fire
  • It says if an engaged woman gets raped by a man in the city then she (and the rapist) shall be stoned to death
  • It says adulterers shall eb sentenced to death
  • It says people who practice beastiality, as well as the animals that are victims, shall be put to death
  • It says "No one whose testicles are crushed or whose penis is cut off shall be admitted to the assembly of the LORD"
  • IT says handicapped people shouldn't come to the altar
  • IT says women who give birth to girls are "unclean" for 66 days and have to be purified
  • It says if a woman attempts to physically defend her husband then she shall have her hand cut off
  • It says that a person born out of wedlock should not be allowed into the church
  • It says if you disobey God then you must eat your babies
  • In another verse it endorses cannibalism by talking about boiling a person's child and then eating it.
  • It says that women are not allowed to teach men and that women must remain silent
  • It says if someone steals then they should have their hand cut off
  • But it also says that if someone steals something from you, you should give them something else
  • It says you should discipline your children by throwing them against a stone wall
So I ask you, why is it that Christians get to pick and choose which parts of the Bible are relevant and which parts aren't?
It really kind of makes you wonder, if practically anything you do is a sin, what was the point in creating humanity in the first place?

We don't.

You asking this question means you don't understand the Gospel. I suggest you speak to a clergy and get the scoop...you will feel better afterwards.

You're quoting a lot of the ceremonial law of Moses which only applied to the nation of Israel. It was to separate them from the pagan nations around them & their idolatrous practices. So its not picking & choosing. Its understanding the context of particular texts. If not it causes problems.

A classic example is in Matthew 5:38, where Jesus says
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, & a tooth for a tooth.'"

Jesus was quoting Exodus 21:24, Leviticus 24:20, & Deuteronomy 19:21 which was a principle of justice to be applied by the judges in the nation of Israel's national law. It was not meant to excuse personal retaliation. So the courts should show strict justice but individuals needs to be merciful to wrongs committed against them. So Jesus says:

"But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also."
-Matthew 5:39‭-‬40 NASB

But defining sexually immoral practices such as: adultery, homsexuality, fornication (sex before marriage), & beastiality the Bible is crystal clear in the Old Testament & the New Testament. But God is merciful & gracious & calls all sinners of every kind to Christ for remission of sins & eternal life.

At the cross the Lord's justice toward sin & mercy towards sinners is on full display. If the Lord was not just there would be no need for Him to suffer the justice due for humanities sins & if He were not merciful & loving He would not have done so. But He is both merciful & just & now is the justifier of any sinner who turns to Him in simple trust.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
-John 3:16‭-‬17 NASB

"...the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.:
-Galatians 2:20 NASB

"...and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed."
-1 Peter 2:24 NASB

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
-Romans 5:8 NASB
