Much more competitive tonight. We are still a long way from where we want to be, but to be honest, we are a long damn way from where we were too.

Russell damn near threw for 300 yards tonight against that LSU defense. He carved them up most of the night. OL play was excellent outside of the one drive.

We just don't have a go-to receiver that can go up and get one for us in the red zone. Was painfully apparent in several of our trips down there tonight. It's just so annoying because we are so close to being an excellent team. Would be an offensively excellent team with a deep threat receiver and a true bruiser at running back.

The offense played quite well, except for a couple major mistakes, but the defense was pretty bad. Seemed to me to stop the run up the middle fairly well most of the time, but that was about the only bright spot.

I agree Engie, after tonight, I am somewhat optimistic that Nick Griffen may be that guy. He looked an awful lot like Ballard out there tonight. He is back to where he was before the injury, and I am hopeful that he may be able to be that bruiser. Shumpert will help as well.

We are not 'there' yet, but we are getting closer. LSU is simply better. A big chance to win at home against Arky and on the road at Oxford. 9-3 or 8-4 is a successful season, but we all want more.

Agreed. He did look good tonight. Especially at times. Our run blocking was just nonexistent up front. Who would have thought that we would evolve into a good pass-blocking team that is still questionable in runblocking?

Thing is, I want a bruiser that can move it on the ground against Alabama or LSU semi-effectively. Should be doable with Russell's ability to move it through the air(and Griffin may have the capability of being this guy, it's just too early to tell). This is something that Ballard never really accomplished. Dixon, however, had a good bit of success against them...

Shumpert can potentially be huge in this role, IMO...

yeah, and it doesn't help with the BS calls and just flat out ignoring fumbles/recoveries. i'm about sick of the crap that goes on during a game that isn't even bothered with on one side of the ball. basically, when ls-who did get called on stuff it was for the blatant crap that would look really bad if it didn't get called.

We came out and hit them in the mouth at their place to start the game. Now, we couldn't keep it up, but that's an improvement over just about EVERY game this year.

I still wish we would play Banks at WR in the red zone.
