umm just for you tusk since you were so enamored with TR hitting Honey badger on one play....complete with the following

-never seen anyone pull of the stuff this guy pulls
-stripping everyone and their mother
-punt returns making 15 guys miss (obviously some twice)
-knocking the 17 out of bama TE who outweighs him by 150
-knocking the 17 outta brassell
-17ing s h i t up

buthesonly5'9"160lbs3*ku

nevertheless I still think RGIII should win.

If he had not smoked the fake **** you cannot vote him anything other than #1. What will happen is he will be the frontrunner next year but the luck will not bounce his way. I have never seen anyone strip the ball and recover it and score like him.

I just think there are a couple other guys that should be in NYC instead of him....

he's a really, really talented and special player... I just don't think he means as much to his team as some of the other candidates mean to theirs....

The guy is a hell of a punt returner, but best player in collge, no way. He isn't that special of a DB. I mean, don't get me wrong, he is really good. Hell he's only got like 2 picks. I mean for a DB to win the Heisman, I would think they would be at least in the top 5 in their league in categories associated with DBs. Chuck Woodson was a shutdown corner and had like 9 picks the year he won.

besides he has forced 6 fumbles and that's just as good.. so he's been personally responsible for 8 turnovers

some of those kind of plays haven't been made since charles woodson or maybe desmond howard (both heisman winners) if ever. Some of those strips from qb's are just mind boggling.

I'll say it again...I think RG3 was the best player in college football this year and most valuable to his team. LSU may or may not have been as great with Matthieu...debateable. However, to say he is not a top five player in the nation is preposterous. whether heis as/or more deserving than TR is debateable and subjective.

I've done the Google search but came up short in finding the story by how the Honey Badger got his nick name. Anyone mind sharing?

and the honey badger is supposed to be the meanest animal pound for pound in the world. small but brutally fierce. I think they just stick their face in beehives to get the honey not particularly bothered by the fact that they get stung on the nose 1,000 times. Facing off with king cobras and such. They say honey badgers take what they want, and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it.

a lockdown DB. There are two better DBs on their team, to me. I just can't think of voting him the best player in college football when their are at lesat 2 better DBs on his own team.

I believe Chavis gave him the nickname. I know one of the coaches did, because of his fiercy play. It wasn't because of his hair. He had the nickname before his hair.As far as being a top 5 player. 17 no The other Claiborne is 10x better of a CB than Mathieu. Russell Sheppard is better than Mathieu and more valuable to the team. So thats 2 on the same team that are better college players than him. The only reason he is a Heisman Finalist is because of the nickname.

but he made more plays than any of them this year.. I absolutely agree with you, if I'm drafting for a team I'd take Claiborne. But as far as accomplishments THIS SEASON, Mathieu has them all beat

Also Joe Adams from ark. had 10 less chances to return a punt has 3 returned punts for TD and averages 16.9 yards per return
Mathieu 26 returns for 2 touchdowns for an average of 16.5 ypr

Forced Fumbles- 2 others have more forced fumbles and 3 tied.

Interceptions-Atleast 30 people with more interceptions

Not really Heisman numbers except for maybe the Punt Returns which like I said Joe Adams has better numbers.

No way he's a top heisman candidate, compared to the others. I think it's crazy to suggest otherwise.

Lot of hype, on the #1 team, catchy nickname, Has 2 "Heisman moments" in his punt returns that spurred life back into LSU, and has 8 forced turnovers.

At his native position, as others have pointed out, he isn't even the best on his team, but he is the best X-factor type player in the country.
