Looking for some suggestions, mostly of the Caribbean variety or some type of all-inclusive resort, but I'd like if there was golf/tennis available.

I've looked at Sandals/Secrets, and all the typical ones and will probably go through a travel agent... Anyone suggest some over others?

Anyone know of some nicer ones other than the chains (Sandals/ClubMed, etc...)???

I'm headed to Sandals in St. Lucia on mine. Just seemed like the best value. There are three Sandal resorts on St. Lucia, and you can freely travel between any of the other two.

Having said that, in the last year I've been to the Bahamas (Atlantis) and Puerto Rico, and I thought Puerto Rico was better of those two options. There is alot of local flavor 'Island time' feel around Old San Juan. Cool city. Kind of like New Orleans in the middle of the Caribbean.

Went to Sandals La Toc St Lucia last month it was great! Get the butler level rooms. They set up everything for you. No problems of any kind. Highly Recommend!

I'll second or third St. Lucia or Puerto Rico. Both are terrific.

Not the Caribbean, but you cannot go wrong with Costa Rica.

I hate all-inclusive resorts, so I can't help you there.

We went to Petit St Vincent on ours and it was perfect for us. No TV, we only saw people at dinner time and occasionally, if we didn't have lunch delivered to us on the beach. Sometimes it felt like you had your own island. Golf is not an option and all inclusive does not include some beverages so this may not be for you. We have been to. Mango Bay in Barbados and it was phenomenal. You can actually walk around Barbados at night and not feel threatened, we went to local bars and restaurants. It's not a huge resort so you get to know more people. The ONE restaurant is great, but there is only one on resort. The other thing is there is a marine reserve just a short walk down the beach and it was excellent snorkleing. The golf course down the road, Sandy Lane is world class.

The Sandals can be at least the minimum for what you would want if you truly want an all inclusive. They can get a little crowded at some of them but we were at the one on Antigua for a few days and the quality of food and liquor is good but just too crowded. Most of these end up like spring break. We have gone to a number of Caribbean islands and actually last year we went to Curaçao as someone else mentioned and we were pleasantly surprised. Stayed at a small butique Dutch hotel called Hotel Floris for $125 night in June! Full kitchen and bed and we rented a car for the week and drove around to all of the different beaches. Downtown Willemstad has some cool bars and restaurants that can remind you of South Beach and there is a gigantic beach party on Sunday night.
The absolute best hotel resort I have been to is the Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya south of Cancun. There are 125 rooms that are like small apartments with courtyard and roof top sun deck, nakedness, and your own private plunge pool. You have a butler and everyone knows your name. Not crowded and has great food and booze but it can be costly. We only left property once in 5 nights and went down to playa del Carmen.
It just depends if you and future wife like to venture out and see sights and beaches and such or if you truly just want to hang out and veg. I had a co worker and her husband went to a small super inclusive resort called Palm Island in St Vincent. Said it was amazing. Dominican Republic is pretty and all inclusive with many types and quality to choose from. But you will stay on property the entire time as it is an underdeveloped and sometimes not safe if you leave property.

We did Sandals Antigua last year. Antigua was nice, but if we had to go back, we'd probably not go the Sandals route. There are all inclusives that are just as nice for cheaper. I'd like to go to Turks and Caicos or Punta Cana DR.

Sandals st lucia is where my wife and i went. Was great. Free movement between all three on the island. I got to play golf. She got her massage. And the food was better than expected. We had one of the ones with the private pool area and then there are the "hamock beds" for lack of a better word spread out all over the place with curtains that close for privacy. We are planning to go back this winter.

I dont think you can go wrong on any level of the rooms on St. Lucia.

Oh.. and there are not a lot of beach bums trying to sell you things.. and a surprisingly high number of old british men with extreemly hot young british girls!

Use a travel agent.

We filled out a 2 page forma and had a 15 minute phone conversation with ours. She gathered the info she needed about what we wanted and did all the research and sent us options. We picked, she booked and got our flights. No charge to us as they make money off the resort. Actually saved me some money on the flights as well.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like their info.

I just got back from Punta Cana in the DR. Awesome. Just awesome

and not that expensive. Place was top notch. You can walk a mile either way and there's no other resorts. Just empty beaches and coves. And no children allowed. All inclusive, a la carte, not just crappy buffets. No tipping.

I'm all seriousness, Santorini is the most beautiful place I've ever been to.

On another note... Don't ride the donkeys unless you are ok with walking up stairs covered in donkey poop after the ride ends. The donkeys also fart a lot.

We were in Santorini and Greece last year. Don't expect to be able to use a credit card anywhere in the Greek isles other than MAYBE your hotel. Straight cash, homey.

2nd for Excellence Punta Cana

Great place. Not expensive at all. We paid $3k for airfare, a suite with a jucuzzi in the room and on the balcony. All food and drink included. Plus the beach is clothing opt so you might get to see some fun stuff. Ride from the airport is hell. Guys drive like madmen but that is apparently true of most in the Caribbean.

Also, they have free porn channel in the room.... And no, I am not kidding. And its not a typical 'sandals' type resort. Its a lot more low key.

the no kids is a HUGE plus. One day, wife and I were in the water and after a few minutes, we realized it was kids that we heard. We both looked at each other with a 'WTF' look. By that moment, there were resort employees moving in to remove them. Was fantastic!

Damn... yours too? Mine wasn't to save the marraige but to say she got into the 50 shades would be an understatement

The head bellhop or whatever brought a bottle of Don Julio to my room because I said I liked it. He would not accept a tip. My ole lady at the time upgraded us to one of the badass two story suites with a pool on the roof the last two nights for my birthday, and it was awesome. We had a party up there one night, took all the top shelf bottles of liquor and just hung out. That place had two bathrooms. The regular rooms are plenty fine though. The ride to the airport was only about 20 minutes I think. I got my plane ticket for $700 I think, and the resort is pretty well priced.

And yes, it's quiet, and laid back, but you can have plenty of fun. Casino and and plenty of bars. Also, no kids can not be overrated. We didn't leave the resort.

And the place never felt crowded, but one night they had a Michael Jackson tribute in the main area, and damn, that place was packed. There's never a problem getting beach or pool chairs, or a drink.

We did the excellence club. It wasn't worth the $ but was ok

The resort as a whole was very nice. I liked the rougher Atlantic waters. We never left the resort either. Would definitely visit another of their resorts. I think the other ones they have are all in the Cancun/Cozumel region.

we had it the last two nights with our room, but I wouldn't pay for it. And when we went to the "exclusive" part of the beach with the nice beds they didn't even check if we were in it. We did go to the actual Club both nights. Watched NFL playoffs and had some drinks and appetizers.
