I thought DF was the better team tonight, but got to give Hough credit for hanging in there. TK is just so much better than the other coaches.

Hough is huge and has a ton of athletes. Honestly, I underestimated Hough. I expected a bigger crowd.
Hough will be a tough out in the 4A playoffs.
DF will have their hands full in SC, but probably still the favs to win it.

The early season advantages that South Carolina high school football have over their NC counterparts are too much of an advantage in the first game of the season in head to head matchups. South Carolina football teams are usually 3-4 weeks ahead of NC teams at the beginning of the season. Coach Knotts will definitely exploit those advantages to his favor. I would love to see this game played after Hough has a couple of games under their belt first.
I used to agree that the SC teams were ahead by a game or two but not as much now.

NC opened up the spring to unlimited numbers and SC did away with eight quarter rule. Don't think SC gets more quarters of scrimmage now but not sure.

Yes NC opening up the Spring workouts was huge. Not sure about the current SC scrimmage rules but the two weeks allowed in full pads during the Spring is the current separation for SC football in my opinion. I do agree that the gap between states isn’t as big as it used to be in the past.

Hats off to DF. Knotts did what he's best at...nobody better at figuring out the adjustments to make to neutralize your strengths. Can't make mistakes against a Knotts team either. Good ball game though.

I think the eight quarter rule is a big loss for SC. I believe that is a great equalizer for developing talent. If you need a backup QB and the guy is a sophomore does he lose out by not playing Thursdays. Is there another sophomore or a freshman that is going to make big gains by getting those snaps.

How many times in history has NC defeated TK?
Since he left NC I believe he’s only played 2 games against NC teams. Tied one and won 1. Remembering when he left going to SC. Lot of SC fans laughed, telling him he was playing big boy football, while taking over 3-9 Dutch Fork. 6 State Championships later. He’s a football god of SC.

Independence, Mallard Creek and Hough are the three games I remember. The Mallard Creek game I remember Mallard Creek started to wear DF down with the running game in the second half before the game was called.

Great win for DF and TK. Hough has the players to play with anyone. They are going to have to win the West if they want to get to the next level.
