Another interesting matchup coming up for next Friday. Any thoughts about the game.
Against North Meck they ran some tempo they mixed up there huddle and formation looks to get good matchups. Mallard Creek isn’t explosive enough to come from behind but the defense should keep them in every game.Mallard Creek will be a threat if they can find some offense.
Hough has a good defense as well. They have a freshman in the secondary that's going to be really good imo. So, this probably isn't the "get right" game for Creek's offense. But I agree, if they can manage about what Chambers did against Hough (which wasn't much), it'll be a close game.Against North Meck they ran some tempo they mixed up there huddle and formation looks to get good matchups. He's a High School kicker not Adam Vinatieri. Yes he is good but I don't think he's the deciding factor in this game. Could I be wrong yesBiggest issue for MC here is that Hough kicker. He's good from about 45 which gives them a big advantage in a close game which I believe this will be. Defense is gonna have to do what they did at Gaffney. Turnovers and short fields.
I was at that game and didn't see anything you are referencing. I guess you took that loss pretty rough. Hopefully, EF comes over again. That was a pretty easy game.I went to the EF v Hough game last year and let me tell you the Hough coaches were the biggest bunch of Clowns I've seen in NC HS Football and I've been all over this state for 30+ years watching games. They are honestly like a bunch of Pop Warner coaches that just stayed with their kids and made it all the way to the Varsity squad. With that said I'm going on behavior and how they carry themselves as coaches not overall football knowledge
Coaches running off at the mouth at midfield like they were about to play. Then we wonder why kids act like a bunch of idiots on the field.
With that said I know Tinsley and Corio from their days at SEG, and Grimsley. Would love to see those guys win it big if my two teams cant win it. Tinsley needs a huge win. They have played teams way better than Hough so their will be no shock value. They just need to go out and execute the game plan. Like you said @MHSBigBlue06 I would not be shocked at all if MC wins it and I would prefer that. With East Forsyth playing RJR I may make the trip down 85 South.
East Forsyth has State Championships in their Trophy Case...IJSI was at that game and didn't see anything you are referencing. I guess you took that loss pretty rough. Hopefully, EF comes over again. That was a pretty easy game.
Although criticizing Mallard Creek’s offense is fair, playing Gaffney, SP and Buford all on the road isn’t easy. Honestly Hough wouldn’t do much better from an offensive perspective. I would be surprised if Hough blows them out. There isn’t anything Mallard Creek will see from Hough that they didn’t see from Buford and the South Carolina teams they played.Hough will win BIGLY. Possibly by 14 or more points. MC simply does not have the offense to keep up. As much as we clown Hough this may actually be the best Hough team of the past 5 years and Chambers, MC, and Butler are down relatively speaking. Not sure who can beat Hough but my money is on East Forsyth right now. Would be a great game.
The freshmen Samari Matthews, and Gillespie may be two of the top freshmen in the state. KD from West Charlotte is great too. Excellent freshmen class in Charlotte this year, but Hough is tops and will be loaded for a while. IF they cant get it done this year not sure when they ever will.
Lastly, think MC loses this game but if they meet in the playoffs i'd give the rematch edge to Mallard. Rooting for MC, but as an high school football pundit Hough wins.
Yes down. Chambers has elite talent so it will mask flaws in most games. In even matched teams Chambers doesnt stack up. Would be surprised if they make a deep playoff run.Although criticizing Mallard Creek’s offense is fair, playing Gaffney, SP and Buford all on the road isn’t easy. I don’t understand what you mean when you say Chambers is down, they are pretty talented and have been the last couple of years. Butler can be considered down but they are sophomore heavy with college talent so they should be really good in a couple of years. I think MC is on the right track and can beat anyone. I just don’t see the gap between Hough/EF and everyone else being significant.
Gaffney and SP lost a combined four games and three of those teams that beat them are undefeated the other team is Mallard Creek. You’re kinda overstating the “way down” argument to prop up Hough. Gaffney and SP aren’t as dominant as last season but they are still pretty good and even tougher to play on the road. All I am saying is as “great” as Hough is, Mallard Creek has lined up against better this year so they shouldn’t be intimidated . MC just needs to play their game.Yes down. EF/HOUGH are the class of 4A this year. Hough was two choke jobs away from possibly running off 3 consecutive state ships. Their talent level is off the charts right now.
MC is greatly inproving and moving in right direction. Buford was blowout city, SP was a beating, and Gaffney is waaaaaaaaaaay down from last year so we aint learned much from them games. Hough played Dutch Fork so no big game advantage. IMHO Hough has played more of these tough games than any team besides chambers.
Gaffney went on a 3-game winning streak, beating 6-1 Northwestern, Forth Dorchester, and Spartanburg. SP, came back to beat Creek with less than a minute left in the game, hardly a beating. Buford is a top 5 team Nationally. Hough will be a juggernaut, but i love our chances. As far as talent, Hough has had off the chart talent for over a decade, with same results. CHOKE! Collectively, I also like our talent more.Yes down. Chambers has elite talent so it will mask flaws in most games. In even matched teams Chambers doesnt stack up. Again the gaffney win , SP loss, and Buford loss mean nothing vs. Hough. Hough has played big games for years and absolutely has been dominate vs. MC sans coach PGaffney went on a 3-game winning streak, beating 6-1 Northwestern, Forth Dorchester, and Spartanburg. Not to Hough, but those games will mean a lot to Creek. Dominate, as they should have been. They will not be playing the same Creek on Friday. We'll see what happens. No matter the results, they'll have to see us twice.Again the gaffney win , SP loss, and Buford loss mean nothing vs. Hough. Pretty sure your Butler Bulldogs are playing South Pointe next year. Their jv's played this year.Gaffney and SP lost a combined four games and three of those teams that beat them are undefeated the other team is Mallard Creek. I don’t think that’s the first time the JV’s played each other but I could be wrong . I think they played them because Garinger doesn’t have a JV. Butler also played Weddington in a JV game too.Pretty sure your Butler Bulldogs are playing South Pointe next year. Their jv's played this year.
From a talent standpoint MC isn’t intimidated by what Hough will bring when MC has played a couple of teams with similar or more talent. I think this game is a pick em, I just don’t see Hough as head and shoulders better than everyone in the state. Not to Hough, but those games will mean a lot to Creek. Agree MC is not intimidated by Hough and has played a great schedule. Just think it wont matter in this game as they are very familiar conference foes. Will be pulling for da creek, just think Hough is lights out this year and more experienced from prior meetings. From a talent standpoint MC isn’t intimidated by what Hough will bring when MC has played a couple of teams with similar or more talent. Interesting the Gillespie kid is from Statesville. Know both his parents. Truly an incredible athlete. Hough got a good one.Hough will win BIGLY. Possibly by 14 or more points. Think you're right about Gaffney and SP. Gaffney had the hiccup against SP, a game they shouldn't have lost imo, but have looked better since. SP's QB was injured during their game against MC iirc. Could be mistaken, but don't believe he was available, or maybe rushed back the following week against Florence.Gaffney and SP lost a combined four games and three of those teams that beat them are undefeated the other team is Mallard Creek. Yeah the trend now is to get prospects in as 9th graders as they get less scrutiny vs. transferring in as Jr and Sr.Interesting the Gillespie kid is from Statesville. Know both his parents. Truly an incredible athlete. Hough got a good one.
Back to the game I think MC wins an ugly game 17-20. MC is battle tested. I was expecting more from Hough this year. Especially at Qb.
Hough coaching staff. I like them. They only care about their players and that's ok because their players engage and respond to their coaches in a positive way. Got to respect a coach who can take command and young 14-18 year olds follow them. Also you can't argue. They are putting kids in college
I guess efficient is the right word. Against Mooresville, Hough scored 2 TD's in under 3 minutes after opening kick. It was 14-0 before Mooresville O touched the ball.I think Hough’s offense leaves a lot to be desired. And by that I mean, they are efficient… but I don’t see them as super explosive. Think Creek hangs around in this game a lot longer than people will expect. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Creek win tbh
Who has the greatest chance of sweeping the whole field in 2022?Tom think this is one of the most wide open years in 4Aespeically with no subdivision. Right now Hough, Chambers, MC, East Forsyth, and CG would be my favorites to take it all with EF and Hough slightly above the rest. Hillside and Wake Forest are kinda catching my eye out east
Cant wait for this game on Friday. Its classic high school football.
Huge factor in this game. If he kicks a few FGs and they get a couple of scores he has the opportunity to put the ball in the end zone. That is a bit demoralizing in itself but driving the length of the field is a difference maker for teams that do not have a strong O. Lights out O just allows them to put up bigger numbers. Inferior O is giving up field position. He's a High School kicker not Adam Vinatieri. Yes he is good but I don't think he's the deciding factor in this game. Could I be wrong yes
Yup. 20-6 the rest of the game, with a Mooresville TD called back. That was a rough first 2 minutes lolI guess efficient is the right word. Against Mooresville, Hough scored 2 TD's in under 3 minutes after opening kick. It was 14-0 before Mooresville O touched the ball.
Unless you identify them in the K-5 elementary schools and feed them to the middle school as 6th graders. By 9th grade, they are fully prepped D1 superstars and ready to absolutely dominate the high school level. You know, kinda like Catholic does. Then you still get the scrutiny.Yeah the trend now is to get prospects in as 9th graders as they get less scrutiny vs. transferring in as Jr and Sr.
As I stated there was nothing Hough would show them that MC hasn’t seen all year. They have lined up against better. This Mallard Creek defense is on another level.Gaffney and SP lost a combined four games and three of those teams that beat them are undefeated the other team is Mallard Creek.
