How good is Providence?

All of their wins are terrible.

They beat NJIT by 1 point to open the year. Their other 4 wins are Bryant University by 32, UNC Asheville by 5, Fairfield by 19, and Holy Cross by 19. Their 2 losses are to UMASS by 2 and Penn State by 3 in overtime, both on a neutral site.

I think we really have a shot of winning this one. It will tough being on the road with a young team, but I don't think this is a very good Providence team. We actually average more rebounds than they do per game and we have played significantly tougher competition with a small and young lineup. If you are a betting man I would say take MSU +13. I don't think they can beat us by that much because I just don't think they are that good of a team.

We are a 12.5 underdog according to cbssports.com, yet they picked us to win the game. They have depth issues very similar to us.

if the line is 13 then it is a no brainer...lay the points and take the team with a lot real scholarship players. Anytime a team has a player coming off the bench who just last year was playing against the women's team in scrimmages tells me that is not a team I am going to put my money on. Love our Dogs but just cannot put dollars on them.

I keep hearing about our depth issues, but that is the least of our worries. We have starter issues, i.e. we have five starters that are not even mid-major level starters at this point in their respective careers.

If Steele were playing, it would be close to a 50-50 tossup. It's still possible, but less likely.

We'll cover the spread. NJIT by one. That is all. They're the worst D1 school in history.

You would be horrible in Vegas. Providence has 6 scholarship players.

Oh, look! Another uninformed negative post from you about Ray and our basketball team... Shocking I tell you!

six scholarship players is right but 3 of them have a lot of experience last season. This is not a negative post toward Coach Ray or our basketball but one that strictly from black and white numbers. The problem with gambling is a lot of people bet with their hearts. I probably would be horrible in Vegas...most everyone is or there is no Vegas.

Crooked, perhaps you caught a break with their top scorer going down....

now they have five players left; honestly, I still do not believe we can play with what they have left.

lost zero money here; I have not bet on any game for more than 24 yrs, but I still like to watch and see how I would have done; in this case I would have lost. I am certainly glad for anyone who won.

I quit betting many yrs when, on a Monday night fb game I had the game won with a few seconds to play. However, when my punter mishandled the snap with less than 10 seconds to play he picked up the ball and ran it out the back of his own end zone, giving up the two points and leaving me a loser. It made me realize just how stupid it is to bet against the oddsmakers. An amateur better whose bets are not "tracked" can make great claims to winning money vs the spread, but I will guarantee that we mostly hear about the games they win.
