How is this guy playing in the NFL, and Ray Rice isn't?

His stats during his final year with the Ravens were nothing to brag about, that's probably the only reason why teams are using his off-field incident against him.

Trent Richardson is still getting tryouts with NFL teams, probably the biggest RB bust in history, and Ray can't get a sniff.

Hardly the media's fault that Ray Rice punched a woman in an elevator in full view of security cameras. The reasons are obvious and noted above: He's not a special talent any more, and the publicity would be appalling.

Why do we have to discuss this? The Rutgers martyrdom gets a little old sometimes.

Apples and oranges.

my point is people saying he's not good anymore - even though he was a top back - is why he cant get any looks, meanwhile guys who have been incredible failures in the league are still getting chances.

An organization is not going to receive heat for bringing Richardson in for a tryout.

I thought he'd be signed by now, maybe Ray will get a shot later in the season if RB injuries mount up.
But the lifespan of being a RB in the NFL is short and Ray might be considered used up and not on any team's RB back-up plan list in case of injuries.
The video doesn't help matters, in fact probably is a reason to keep him off a team's list of emergency RB roster candidates

Again with the stats. Rice did average 3.1 a carry but his backup was worse with 2.9. That tells me that the line was horrible.

I'm really surprised Jerry Jones didn't receive more grief for signing him. I know Jones tries to go the extra yard in finding talent for good value (e.g., the offensive lineman from LSU who was supposed to be a first rounder but fell out of the draft due to rumors), but you have to draw the line and not sell out your morality and ethics just to have a good team.

But Ray does deserve a try-out. Maybe he has had one or two and just showed too much rust. But if anyone would give him a look, it would be Jones, especially after losing DeMarco Murray.

Did you watch the Cowboys - Patriots game? Dallas pass rush has been amongst the worse for years. Insert Greg Hardy and for the first time in his Career - Tom Brady was sacked 5 times in one half. That same terrible Dallas D line just plus Greg Hardy. Greg Hardy is elite level talent. Adrian Peterson is elite level talent. Ray Rice likely isn't at that level anymore. The risk - reward just isn't worth it

Jamaal Charles blew his knee out in KC yesterday. They are kicking the tires on Pierre Thomas and Ben Tate. Both are retreads but come without baggage.
