be decided by the end of the 1st quarter as with a&m and bama? I know UM isn't either, but I hate playing such offenses. I've just got a bad feeling about our D in this one. To me the best defense for us this Sat will be a strong showing on offense.

Agree. I think the key to this game is our O-line playing the kind of game that lets us dominate time of possession.
Controlling the pace of the game and keeping their offense off the field is critical. As much as people ***** about the play of the defense against A&M, that game could have been a lot close had our offense not **** the bed.
True. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like these high powered offenses are running up big numbers on everybody this season. So maybe I shouldn't be overly hard on our D...
Man do I hope so...seen too many good state teams fall to sub par rebels in my days. Honestly, I don't know what to make of this matchup.
I think that's why we elected to receive after winning the toss. Gotta (1) establish our O, (2) keep their O off the field, and (3) not let our guys get down from getting behind 7-0 to a good offense.

No you haven't. At least not more good MSU teams fall to sub-par Bears then good Bears teams have fallen to sub-par MSU teams. Significant Egg Bowl upsets since the game returned to campuses:
2009 - 5-7 MSU beats 9-4 Mississippi in Starkville
2001- 3-8 MSU beats 7-4 Mississippi in Starkville
That's it. The Mississippi team that beat us in 1997 finished 8-4 (we were 8-4). The one that beat us in 2000 finished 7-5 (we were 8-4). You have to go back to 1981 to find a time a truly sub-par Mississippi team won the Egg Bowl when an 8-4 MSU team lost to a 4-6-1 Mississippi team.
Well... they weren't good teams, but Tennessee and Arkansas had good offenses that we had gotten behind to and responded.
In the 90's we dropped a couple when we had better talent. Even had to pull off close ones in 98 and 99 if I'm not mistaken.
