Look man, there is no right or wrong here, it's a matter of opinion. I think the money should first be dispersed directly to the athletic department, because that's where the UNIVERSITY needs it. I like the idea of a "student" Bulldog Club, but it's not gonna take a lot of money to get that **** together. I'm talking about a major NEED that Mississippi State has right now, and that's funds. You gotta get 'em any way you can, and one glaring figure that needs reconsideration is $3. That's the price of student tickets, and it should be raised, first and foremost, for the University, NOW. Not for some future alumni encouragement deal that won't matter at all if our program turns to ****.
With the economy the way it is right now, this is a crucial time to stay in the game in terms of fundraising. I think it's a great idea to bestow some of that burden on the students themselves, and raise money for the athletic department by increasing the price of student admission. Any "plans" the SA has in terms of student affinity should not take precedence over the athletic program itself. And if you ask me, as long as the ticket takers turn a blind eye to the whiskey and smokes in my pocket, my "experience" and Scott Field will be fine and dandy. It will only improve if I have a winning team to cheer for, and the best way I can make sure that happens is give my money directly to Greg Byrne, and not some points club like I'm trying to earn a free night's stay or airline miles. Not right now at least...
You probably have a good idea on your mind and good intentions with your plans, but if the bill is passed and the money is raised, don't waste it like the SA's been known to do on overpaid bands, etc.. If we're talking $150,000 raised by the students, $100,000 of that better go directly to the god damn teams.
