I have neither of those polar feelings that Dan will stay or go, that leaves one choice for me, and I'm sure most other people - I have yet to vote. If he leaves, he's set a solid foundation for the next coach to come in and build upon. I have confidence that our Athletic Department can find a solid replacement, hopefully being someone other than Diaz or Hudspeth - not knocking on them, they are both terrific, but they are unproven (especially when trying to take over an SEC program). Diaz is too young and inexperienced to be our head man. Hudspeth I wouldn't mind giving a try, but we all know that Mullen will gut the program for the coaches he wants when he does leave one day. He would have to hire a lot of new coaches, and most likely a new Strength Coarch.
But I would prefer a coach with a similar tenacity to Mullen, if there is one. I love his energy and passion for all aspects of the game.
Mullen knows if you center the experience around the fan, then the players will feed off of the energy and atmosphere they bring to each home game. You win your home games and you're doing pretty well, add in a road win or two and you're bowl eligible. The fans create the atmosphere and the players feed on it. I have been amazed at the turnaround of the entire gameday experience that Mullen has brought to us; he has complete control of all aspects of the program, he knows about good advertising and selling a program. Mullen has really rallied people all around the state behind MSU. Bear with me here, I know I may be getting ahead of myself, but he's slowly turning us into a "flagship"-type university. We keep beating OM then the kids growing up will know us as the Top Dawg in the state - pun intended - and they will want to be part of THE winning at MSU. It's somewhat happening now, the recruiting is, but that is due to the efforts of our staff and the way Mullen is selling the program. They want to come represent the State of Mississippi.
