They have been down for the past couple of years. Will they bounce back to their old winning ways?
You’re being nice today.I don’t recall them having winning ways. At least no more one or two seasons every eight or ten years.
I wouldn't consider SP up.When Huss was up in 2017-2019. South Point wasn't on their schedule. And now Huss is down and South Point is up and back on the schedule.
They had a great year. Not taking that away at all. But in comparison to past "up" SP's teams and the top teams in the state, SP was not in that conversation. Dudley proved that.Come o SPRR, South Point finished tide for third place in 3A last year. Did they get a great draw, no doubt. Pisgah had no business being the one seed.
As last season progressed, I just hoped SP finished above .500. After the coaching staff made some changes, SP began to improve on Friday nights. With no more preseason practice than schools are allowed to have, it’s amazing more schools don’t struggle early. Especially schools with relatively young staffs.
I wish SP’s quarterback could put on about 25-30 lbs of muscle during the off season. I can’t understand why Hodge doesn’t put a screen pass in the play book.

Will be tough .. Huss got bit by Covid bug this past season and only played 8 games I believe . But they were young at Qb and that will continue next season . They were 2:1 run pass and they have Most of their players returning . They open next season with Hibriten who will give them problems.. I see 2 wins for HussThey have been down for the past couple of years. Will they bounce back to their old winning ways?

To be fair, none of us were in the conversation with Dudley. They had a great year. Not taking that away at all. But in comparison to past "up" SP's teams and the top teams in the state, SP was not in that conversation. Dudley proved that.
They have the potential to be nearly unbeatable if they were to expand the playbook just a bit.
You may have just said the first thing on this forum that I can agree with you on. South Point should have been capitalized though.Shelby definitely could have played with Dudley better then that south point stinker.
So what's the excuse from 1991 to 2016 then? The insinuation is that SP doesn't want to play them when they're "good"?When Huss was up in 2017-2019. South Point wasn't on their schedule. And now Huss is down and South Point is up and back on the schedule.
Pisgah was a d#mn good team. There have been many years where SP had some great ("easy") draws in the first couple mountain rounds....but this year's Pisgah team wasn't one of them.Come o SPRR, South Point finished tide for third place in 3A last year. Did they get a great draw, no doubt. Pisgah had no business being the one seed.

Unfortunately....this year's Dudley team would've beaten our last two state champ teams worse than this past year's team got beaten...like they would've done most 3a "state title winners" the last 20 years. They weren't a 3a team. They had a great year. Not taking that away at all. But in comparison to past "up" SP's teams and the top teams in the state, SP was not in that conversation. Dudley proved that.

Didn't help my argument - lol. But he wasn't a QB...as I'm sure you know - he was where he was supposed to be at WF - RB. Sure- he was a good enough athlete to play QB in HS. Not many come around like him.Well your list of names leaves out the best quarterback they ever had. Mark Young. Runner passer and hit a baseball 450 feet. I can't believe you left out maybe the best athlete that's ever been through there.
