After some thoughts, he is gone. Ole Miss asked him to coach through the Egg Bowl. They lose it they are out of the playoff. Their attitude is just get to the playoff, then worry about the next game and they view their chance of an Egg Bowl win is better with a Kiffin leaving than no Kiffin at all.

We are now trusting Brandon Walker? Have you heard the dude talk

I have talked to a big booster for UM in person, it’s not a troll
So a big booster from the Rebs is providing you a State fan with insider information? We need to get the other State posters who have stated they have spoken directly with Big Boosters from LSU and UF confirming Kiffin to both their programs. Who needs premium subscriptions, when such insight is free here. What’s the classification of a Big Boosters?

Why would Kiffin stay at a program that has maxed out with making the first round of the playoffs? Why would he max out for a fanbase that ESPN clearly states is tier 2 in size, not giving night games now or really ever, or favorable calls on the 50/50 calls that help him win and make ESPN more money? Why would you want to be forever tier 2 when there are tier 1 programs like Ohio State, Georgia, Bama, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame with fanbases 4X to 5X the size of Ole Miss that generate millions of additional revenue for ESPN?

He really has only one choice. Stay and just enjoy a forever tier 2 program and semi-retire in Oxford, or move up to a program that will be able to compete regularly with the juggernauts.

What is crazy is that Louisana, Florida and Mississippi have realized this is highly valuable branding for their entire state. That is why each governor from all 3 states are involved.
How does anyone know their program is tier 2, when they could potentially win the National Championship? I laugh when so many state he has hit his ceiling when they have advanced further in each of the last three years. What happens if they were to actually play in the NC or win it? Everyone agrees the transfer portal is how you now win. Well, Kiffin has had 3 consecutive top 4 portal classes. How much better can you do than that regardless of where you coach? I realize NIL but there are ton of examples of programs spending a lot more with no success. Money doesn’t mean crap without a leader who can navigate the landscape. God I hope he’s gone.

Do you really rate programs on portal transfers? Then why are OSU, Georgia, Texas A&M so much better than everyone else this year? Like SIGNIFICANTLY better. Why are they navigating the landscape with much better leadership and more success against ranked teams? Why are they winning road games regularly against ranked teams? Look at the 2 deep linemen to start to see. Add Bama to that list as well. Does not matter if he stays or goes. Those teams and more will still exist.

And this is exactly why he’s gone. Hdd ed can win a national championship at either LSU or Florida. He can’t win one at Mississippi. He knows it. Everyone knows it. The elite schools will continue to be the elite schools. NIL & portal or not.

How do you say they are significantly better when UM is 5th? A&M is exactly my point with NIL. They should be dominant every year but owe a coach over 70 mm and play arguably the easiest schedule in the SEC with unlimited resources. The Aggies, along with Kiffin’s Rebs have choked by losing to teams they shouldn’t have each year. People are so set on the days of old with the blue bloods dominating the landscape. You have Indiana, Rebs and Texas Tech in the top 7. There are no juggernauts in college football anymore. Wealthy alumni who buy in can vault anyone into a contender. Texas schools with their oil money will potentially dominate college football in the foreseeable future if rules are not changed. There is zero debate of their wealth base. OSU and A&M are all in on NIL. UGA not so much in comparison. OSU bought a NC last year. Jimbo was fired because the Aggies bought a Bugatti and played like a pinto.

I don’t argue it CAN be at those programs, but lately, they have become dumpster fires. One program firing multiple coaches after playing in SEC Championship games and the other not far behind. However, LSU now attempting to not pay their fired coach. Do both of these not raise major red flags? Soap operas could create content from how so many are reacting to the outcome. Ole Miss is winning the PR game. Even if he leaves, their program is being covered by the national media on a daily basis for free. I’m ready for this to end horribly

If I’m Lane if going to Florida. They’re a bit disjointed, but it’s not been that long since Mullen had them top 12 3 years in a row. Not paying the buyout would be a HUGE red flag for me. But who knows what he’s thinking. Bottom line is you CAN win a national championship at either of those schools.

so OM is tier 2 and yall are tier 5? Selling yourself a level or two short I believe. Maybe.
I think his point is it is a money game now and at this point in the money game the bears are spending at tier 2 and the Dogs are spending at tier 5. The question is can State move up to tier 2 spending or at least tier 3 spending to improv State’s chances of making Future Playoffs and can Ole Miss continue to spend at Tier 2 levels with a different head coach. We will soon know.

I would expect someone that posted something this stupid about one of our own, and the only person we have in media and is a die hard dawg, to also know a big Ole Miss booster. Your “big booster” ole Miss buddy doesn’t know **** from shinola whether Lane stays or not. Pick better friends

No one in the "playoffs" has a legitimate chance other than OSU, Georgia and Texas A&M. Bama is on the bubble of that list.

That's the list. See if you remember these teams. Boise State. Arizona State. SMU. Tennessee. Boy they all had REAL chances last year lol.
The outlier this year is Texas Tech outside of the Big 10/SEC favorites vs conference champs who made it to the playoffs last year but no one felt they had a legitimate shot. Texas Tech is a perfect example of my previous reply. Their NIL was top 5 in the country and spent a reported 7 million on just their defense line. Do I believe they can win? No. Every SEC school with a potential shot to make the playoffs have warts. No team in the country is dominating their schedule.

If he is trolling, no major program would ever take a chance on him after that.
That couldn’t be any further from the truth. Between puppet college administrators and the bat **** crazy boosters who pull their strings, there will ALWAYS be a market for a coach who has won 2/3 of the SEC games he has coached at a Mississippi school.

Remember last season when everyone said that was OM’s year and they’d biggly fall off this year? Everyone said they borrowed the NIL money for last year and that would come home to roost this season? They’re actually better this year.
Keith Carter is a unicorn. He and Walker Jones are playing chess when most of their competitors are trying to figure out how to play checkers. As long as they are around, Ole Miss will be fine. They may not continue to win at the clip Kiffin’s been churning, but they will win more than almost anyone expects a Mississippi school to win. Now if the two of them take their one-two punch somewhere else, that’s when Ole Miss should be worried that they will retain their rightful place that the rest of the SEC expects Mississippi schools to reside.

If that is true all the imaging work he has done, he just ***** it all away. He will never be taken credible again. Rest assured they will have 6- and 7-win seasons. Their lucky in scheduling will not last.
When has Kiffin ever been credible? Ask Tennessee.

Can unicorns use proper grammar? If 1 and done in the "playoffs" is worth an 8 figure loss every year, then he is definitely acheiving the goals.

LSU can easily double Mississippi's NIL budget. For every rich lawyer UMiss has, LSU has 2 or 3 just as rich.
I think you vastly overstate the wealth that you think lawyers have in 2025. The big boosters are business owners/oil/healthcare folks.

I think you're correct here. Although, I doubt that Walker Jones is going anywhere anytime soon; he has other primary business interests. Carter is certainly a candidate, but he is truly an Ole Miss guy.

Whatever he is doing it's good for us. Stay or leave it doesn't matter.

If he is in fact trolling, then he better be content of staying in Oxford for the rest of his career. If all of this is a joke then no program in the future will ever take him seriously about another opportunity. The thing he could do to hurt us the most is just sign the extension that he has had on his desk for over a month. Also, he has already burned a lot of bridges with his own fan base and possibly players too. I think it's basically a given that he's gone.

Surely you don’t consider a national championship the measuring stick for a successful season. You‘re a Mississippi State fan for pity’s sake.

I think a successful season is blowing through tens of millions of dollars to be able to say "we made the field of 12." Of course. No matter what it costs.

Surely everyone in the nation will remember who made the field of 12 in February. That has real, actual, lasting value.

Only the big time programs make it. Like SMU. Boise State. Arizona State. And Tennessee. People can't stop talking about those guys.
