I don't think this is a Bronny James or LeBron James issue, this is an issue in dealing with any high profile recruit and whether that recruiting circle believes that the program they choose, will provide the best 1 to 2 year path towards the next level of basketball.
Any program that lands Bronny James immediately has a different spotlight on them, but I think it's severely overblown as if the parent becomes a helicopter coach or whatever people who don't like LeBron or Nike or whatever is associated with that.
I think at the end of the day, it's Oregon or Ohio State and Oregon provides the most likely influence for Bronny in terms of marketing directly with Phil Knight AND a program that is off the radar in terms of media coverage. Eugene Oregon isn't Columbus Ohio and LA (USC).
But make no mistake, RU would gain in popularity for the next 3 to 5 years if they landed Bronny, irregardless of what the fans think. It's more important what the peers and future recruiting classes think, which is residual carry-over.
We are already seeing that carry over just by being involved with Dylan Harper and landing Gavin Griffiths....both are considered higher rated kids than Bronny and those kids are helping raise the profile of RU in general. To say you don't want free marketing and exposure for RU, because of a "what might happen", is pure insanity.
If he picks Ohio State, does anyone think the Ohio State at RU game, isn't going to be a popular ticket and more free exposure, just by playing at RU, in the largest media market in the world (NYC just miles away)???
And there's a younger brother that is also eventually going to be a high level recruit down the road. These are all "wins", for any program in terms of recruiting.
