I don't have a high expectation that my dollars would be used for something i'd be that excited about. Would probably go towards an extra catered lunch or something superfluous. Yay, go State. Or maybe not, but the point is i don't know.

Now, if the AD did something like "we need X $ to do Y, if we get it in dedicated donations it happens, if not it doesn't", then i'd be very likely to donate if i supported that goal.

I also think the AD would benefit from doing something like offering something of basically a $100 value for a new member's first $100 donation. Get people in the door and all. Instead it's basically the opposite, where small donations get you nothing, while large ones get you everything. Not necessarily the wrong approach, but i think it completely explains why many dedicated fans with only a little to splurge with choose not to use that money on the BC.

People who make excuses for not giving to the Bulldog Club are usually going to find another excuse not to donate once the one they're using no longer applies. Hell, just the fact he used that excuse when it already doesn't apply tells you a lot. Again, I've got no problem with someone not donating, even though I disagree with their reasoning if they're MSU fans. Nobody has any obligation to give. But all the ******** excuses people use do piss me off a little. Just be honest and tell us you're too cheap, you'd rather give to other charitable causes, or you just don't want to.

as long as it's not fraudulent - it's their job to handle the money as they seem fit. If they need my donation to help cater a lunch for 300 track and field stars - spend it.

I love State and want to see it do well.

I don't give to get something in return.

To each his own, but to be successful, we need people to just simply give.
Yes, you do give to get something in return. Don't play the game. You give to help make things better, improve facilities, provide scholarships, etc. If you truly don't expect anything when you give, then I'll make sure you have my PO Box and you can cut me a check and I promise you'll never see anything from it. <div>
</div><div>People won't just give, no one does. Something must come from the gifts and betangible, otherwise, it's a scam. The BC does tell you where the $$$ goes and what they want to do in the future, perhaps not as good a job as they can, but the info is there. Blindly giving isn't the way go or how to expect people to react.</div>

Didn't know about it. Just looked it up, and decided to give. It wasn't really what i was talking about, i meant smaller, more direct programs, but close enough i guess. Created a dog tag account, and pledged $25, only to find out there's a minimum $100 donation. Debated whether to give more than i'd intended, and decided that if they didn't want my $25, they must not need it that badly. But i'll keep it in mind. I'll probably end up giving, bowling in the stadium is something i think is a great idea. At the very least they have my new address, cell number, and an email addy to spam me on.

Blast that as another excuse if you must.
