Also liked the yahoo fantasy football app. The twitter app is good. Of course ESPN scorecenter. The Weather Channel. I would say gas buddy but there is no cheap gas to be found so who cares. Instant heart rate. And of course the StepBrothers sound board.

Would be, first and foremost, Pandora. Otherfavorites include Google Earth, Google Voice, Wikidroid, Key Ring, Advanced Task Killer, Directv, TuneIn Radio, Scanner Radio, Wootwatcher, Groupon, LivingSocial, RunKeeper, Soundhound, Urbanspoon and WiFi Analyzer.

I've really enjoyed my Cell South Galaxy S. The new software update is supposed to be available for download by EOM, which can only make it a better experience.

you've got way too many apps. I've got like 3 total on my phone. Pandora, Ebay and the Weather Channel. And I hardly ever use them besides the Weather Channel app.

Reader it Later -- Save articles to a reading list and then read them later on your Android or iPhone . The mobile app strips out all the advertisements an other junk and gives you plain text with a white background. The reading list is also synced to your phone so you can access your reading list even if you have no 3G/WiFi connectivity. Also great for when you're dropping a deuce.

My Taptu -- An RSS reader/news aggregator. Pick from their extensive list or sync with your google reader. A great way to skim through headlines that interest you.

Evernote -- Web based note-taking tool with mobile app for Android/iPhone. Create to-do lists, upload photos with notes, etc. Great for keeping track things that you are constantly forgetting.

Amazon is kicking off their Android Ap Store by giving away a different ap every day. Very easy signup if you already have an Amazon account. Yesterday was SkyDroid, golf distance ap. Downloaded Angry Birds Rio, Paper Toss, Wofram ALpha and X Construct that is a mind grabbing bridge building game.

Know all those stupid little club memberships that stores ask you to join to get their discounts and then they give you their "card" or "rewards card", etc, and they even give you a keychain version?

(an example would be a Kroger Plus card or Best Buy Rewards Zone)

Card Star stores these stupid little membership cards as barcodes in your phone and a barcode will display when selected to show the cashier; it can also give you unique discounts to certain stores.

It doesn't stop there though. It will store any barcode you desire. My wife has her library card on hers.

Here I was thinking that the point of these phones was to utilize all of the many things made available to you. You're clearly a much more savvy smart phone user than I.

There's a trick to extend the battery life on these phones. It's 8-1-10.

Charge it for 8 hours with the phone on.

Turn it off and let it charge1 hour. Leave it plugged in.

Turn it back on andcharge it foranother10 hours.

My Galaxy S was going dead by 4:00 every afternoon before I did this, and afterwards, I had about half battery life left at the end of the day.

On a side note, I have the Advanced Task Killer App, and can't see where it helps with speed or battery life.

Here's a few

GasBuddy - tells you the prices of gas around where you are so you can find the cheapest. saves you a few bucks here and there and people actually update the prices all the time
Groupon
Amazon App Store - I like it better than google market and they offer a free paid app every day.
Where's My Droid - you can text your phone a certain phrase and it will bring it out of silent mode so you can find the damn thing.

I was told by someone that she thinks they send an email or a text but she wasn't 100% sure. I do know they post all notifications on Facebook and on their website so if you want to know you can friend them or check the website randomly.

You can also check for any updates available on your phone. Go to settings, about phone, and check for system updates.

Cell South released the 2.2 Froyo update for the Desire on day of the St. Paddy's day parade.

As for the original question:

There are several apps that will show your battery life by percent left, I would suggest getting one of those. Handcent is a quality app, it allows quick text responses and generally makes texting easier. I prefer Wordfeud over WWF. Weather Channel App is pretty good. Soundhound is good to have as well as the Amazon app store.

I have an iPhone and my favs are:

Around Me - very good for locating things when you're out of town.
Hey Tell - I use this alot when driving so that I don't have to text.
iLike - has local concerts within a set mileage range. Links to tix if you wanna buy them.
Snapfinger - I can order from several restaurants here in H'burg on my phone.
Drudge Report and Real Clear Politics - good apps
Netflix and RedBox

and yes, CardStar is a very handy app...no more of those stupid tags

Only problem I would have is finding 19 straight hours without use of the phone, but at this point I'm willing to try anything. I'm like you, my battery is dying every afternoon.

unless it has changed recently, Wordfued doesn't allow you to play with iPhone users while WWF does. That is the main reason it is more popular.

I had the same problem you did. My phone would be fully charged when I left the house in the morning, but would be dead by the timeI got home from work.

However, I use Advanced Task Killer and it has drasticallyimproved the battery life on my phone.

I've played with both... Samsunguses cheaper material... but I suppose your Galaxy will run these apps well:

TuneIn Radio (any radio station in the world that streams online... it's nuts)
Google
Yahoo Sportacular (better design than ESPN Scorecenter)
Twitter
MState Premium App (especially if you live out of state... they also updated it and the radio broadcasts play in the background)
Hey Tell (like walkie talkie)
NY Times
The Onion
Fruit Ninja (best simple game)
Star Wars Falcon Gunner (might be iPhone only, easily the coolest game on a phone, ever)
Pandora (duh)
DirecTV (if you have it)
Flixster (movie showtimes, reviews)
Living Social
Groupon
Yelp
Urbanspoon
Open Table (for making reservations)

Wunder Radio. Seriously it costs like... eight bucks and that's a STEAL. Just about ANY radio station that offers streaming you can listen to on Wunder Radio. As I was driving to Dallas Friday, I was able to listen to the game. No more ****** radio stations for me (You hear me talkin' to ya Z106?!). 98.1 The Max-Millington/Memphis; i105.9- Knoxville; 91.1X- Monroe... There is life outside of Jack FM, Rock 93.9 and all that other **** that gets fed out of Jackson every day...<div>

It works across both the Droid and iPhone platforms. Pretty cool app.

I concur with the poster who said Words with Friends. I would also add the standard Twitter and Facebook apps. They are pretty much a given. ScoreMobile or SportsTap for sports. Buzz Deck and Express News are good for keeping up with what's going on the in the world. TV Listings is good for, uh, TV programs. Pandora for music. And if I were you, I would stay the hell away from Angry Birds.
