I know this is way premature, but looking at 2013 football

I'm expecting a good season next year, but I was just skimming the roster and 2013 looks to be setting up nicely in some key areas.

I have always thought in order to be strong in the SEC you need to have experience in the trenches and at QB. As it stands right now, we will have Russell and Dak both with experience returning in 2013. Our O-line will have the new JUCO guys as seniors, an experienced Day and Clausell, Gabe Jackson, Robinson, Desper, and several other young guys that will be fighting for a spot. We will lose several receivers, but Morrow will be experienced redshirt soph, Sanders, Jameon Lewis, maybe Market, etc. TE's should be strong with the young guys and Malcolm Johnson. Running backs will have a Senior in Perkins, Griffin will be a junior, and Robinson should be experienced by then.

The defense should still be stout. Whitley should be our senior safety, d arrington, tons of young talent at DB plus Redmond and the new guys. If we get the Browns our LB core should be strong, and the D-line should be really good for the foreseeable future.

Would love for some of you guys to add to this or tell me where I'm wrong in my thinking, but it looks like the best is yet to come with the way our staff is building this team. I think the O-line is what I'm excited about, because if they continue to progress that could be a strong point for us. I really wish we could have grabbed a good WR or two the last few years so Dak and Russ would have several targets...am I missing some key WR's other than Morrow?

Just bored and looking ahead. Thoughts?

<div>Not trying to rain on your parade and I"m as big a homer as the next guy but I'm not quite as confident.</div><div>
</div>O-line will be a HUGE question mark. We have 1 QB who has ever played a D1 game. <div>
</div><div>Our D will once again be really good but I'm not convinced our offense is going to be any better than this year.</div><div>
</div><div>The only hope we have is that our schedule appears to be better this year. We drop SC and UGA for T A&M and UT. That should be an extra 2 wins (TaM a toss up). AU seems to be in trouble and losing Mahlzan is going to be pretty big. </div><div>
</div><div>I think we win 2-3 more games next year which will look great but I don't think we are going to be much better offensively. </div><div>
</div><div>If all our JUCOs pan out nicely we can have a really nice year. Right now I see somewhere between 7-10 wins. If I had to bet I'd say 8-4.</div>

raining on my parade? **** I'm a fan of Mississippi State University, I will probably always consider 7-10 wins a great year. If that's raining on my parade then I hope it floods

Ok, we've got some guys with talent and experience in 2013. Let's say they all develop and recruiting goes well, especially with JUCOS for any spot needs.

The schedule is the big question mark. Trouble could come if conference play is completely revamped. Dan has said more than once that UK needs to be beaten every year (for obvious reasons). If there's no UK, that could be abig problem, and we need every win we can get to keepthe big MO. OOC looks good with
<font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">8-31 Mississippi Valley State
9-7 @ UAB
9-21 Troy
10-12 Bowling Green

If this holds, great. We pick up Mississippi Southern in 2014, so OOC is not 4 sure wins. BAMA, LSU, UPIGG, AUBURN will always be there. If any body on our schedule is down, we need to take advantage of their situation. Eight wins is certainly doable with things working in our favor.</font></p>

that we're going to have a lot of 4th year juniors and 5th year seniors on those teams. Mullen is building this team for long-term consistent success instead of going for the quick fix. I know a lot of people have gotten frustrated that he hasn't gone for more JUCOs and has redshirted a few players people wanted to see on the field, but it's going to pay off in the future.

oops misread that late last night. In that case here are my thoughts.<div>
</div><div>Big concern will be the secondary. We'll be losing both starting corners (assuming Slay gets the other spot) and Nikoe. It will be tough to replace 3/4ths of the secondary and not have issues. The good news will be our DL and LBs should be outstanding which can cover up holes in the secondary.</div><div>
</div><div>On offense I think 2013 will be Dan's best offensive year. We'll have 2 SR QBs (I'm thinking Wallace will commit), plenty of WR targets and the running backs will be more experienced. Our OL should be much improved as we shouldn't lose any from the 2012 season.</div><div>
</div><div>As stated earlier, it all depends on the schedule which is set to be redone again next year. If it sets up well 2013 could be Dan's best, of course we still have to beat at least 1 of Bama and LSU to have a shot at winning the SEC.</div>

he redshirted at ark st
xfer to emcc played as rs fr
he will be a soph next year

he has 3 to play 3... he would be classified same as dylan which means we really need him

i like how 2013 setups up, schedule could be worst problem
we will have lsu and bama at home, which makes 2 easier games on the road ...that didn't go so well this year at UGA and at Auburn ...we will have to see just how tough our schedule is next year

after 2013 dan shouldn't have holes on dline or oline ever again... he may have to deal with inexperience but he should have at least 10 capable offensive guys from 2013 forward and at least 8-10 capable defensive guys ...then you just mix and match skill guys to
this was a huge rebuilding project but after 2013 we should be set for depth purposes to be competitive with the 2nd tier SEC auburns, usc, fl, ut for 8-10 wins a year
