The thought of the NIT is depressing and I truly believe if we lose to Mich the season needs to be allowed to end. Our players and program need to turn the page and put 2022-2023 to bed.
Bac, you know we’re not pulling that offXavier was 16-5. lost 8 of 10, then won the NIT
This. I'd take the NIT ONLY for experience for the freshman. If this was a senior heavy team I would turn it down.No. Simpson needs more games.
1 seed NIT teams do one of two things: Mentally shut down and lose to some bum in Round 1 or go all the way. No in between. Honestly I would treat the NIT as preseason for next year...have all the freshman play extended minutes and shut down players like Paul who need a physical/mental break.I actually think NIT is right where this team belongs, and that they could have some success from the mental reset of having NCAA tournament pressure gone. Got feeling that if they lose to Mich yet somehow sneak into NCAA tournament it will be one and done with more of the same bad play as of late.
Do you know how uncommon it is to decline an NIT invite outside of the COVID season?Pike will accept, that’s just the way he is.
Treat the NIT like the preseason. Maximize its limited value by having the younger players play valuable minutes for next year.Honestly I disagree. It’s more basketball to watch (granted I know the team isn’t playing well at all)! As a basketball fan, why would I turn down more games to watch them play?

Students on break week of 3/12 also. Maybe 2,800 at the Rac for NIT game.3000 at the RAC to play Fordham would seem to set us back 3 decades… but at least we have air conditioning now.
With Caleb’s back spasm and the PM rumors who knows how healthy the team really isAlmost all schools accept unless injuries come into play which could be a possibility with Rutgers
ExactlyNorth Carolina will be in the NIT this year
One or two of Wisconsin, Penn State or Michigan will be in the NIT this year
Arizona State will be in the NIT this year
Oklahoma State will be in the NIT this year.
Villanova will be in the NIT this year
Oregon will be in the NIT this year
There's value with the NIT, as long as we give the younger players valuable game experience for next year.Exactly
The arrogance about this program is astounding
It’s like we’ve been a blue blood for the past 50 years and won multiple national championships
We’ve literally been good for 3 1/2 years.
Prior to that, we were terrible for the majority of 30 years… and now we’re too good for the NIT?
other then Simpson, what next year ' big contributing freshman ' needs the NIT game time? There's value with the NIT, as long as we give the younger players valuable game experience for next year.
There is zero chance that Rutgers would no accept an NIT and at least 10 NIT teams will be better than a third of the NCAA field. The issue is motivation.UNC or Michigan could run through the NIT field,or just as easily lose to a Princeton,Exactly

I did not think they would not accept, however, some of the posters on here act like we have been a perennial blue blood and the NIT is below us. It’s up to the coaching staff and the players if they wanna play hard, I hope that they collectively gather up some pride and give it all they have if indeed, the NIT is where we’re going. There is zero chance that Rutgers would no accept an NIT and at least 10 NIT teams will be better than a third of the NCAA field.
