I really wish we could end the political threads on SPS

It's in general a bunch of people who will never agree talking about something they know very little about and not being happy about it.

I actually enjoy some of the humor involved in the political threads, plus most of them have an MSU connection. Just don't open those threads, it's pretty easy to see what they're about by looking at the subjects. It's been a dead few days in the MSU sports world anyway. But to each his own, I guess

My suggestion: don't read what doesn't interest you.

for when a poster you generally enjoy posts crazy political ****, or even WORSE, when someone you think is an idiot posts political stuff you agree with.

Every time I read an article or CNN/MSNBC/FOX or watch a video on YouTube, I try to convince myself not to scroll down to the comment section. I can't help myself...I HAVE to read the comments. It's like the bottom of my screen is taunting me to scroll down. I always give in. Then, I begin to despise the human race.

I find myself in the minority on the few political issues thrown around here but I've never felt it was out of control and it's never allowed to degrade. Every now and then politics and MSU clash and it's a valid topic for the board (such as the idiot from Illinois). I guess I just haven't seen political crap here rise to a level of even warranting a post like this.

I can tolerate it if it's MSU related... but if you start allowing political topics every now and then, you have to draw the line somewhere. If it was left up to me, I would hate to see this board taken over by political discussions. I hate politics in general. It's so polarizing and people are highly emotional and passionate about their views and RARELY give in to another perspective or viewpoint. It really just leads to rambling and incessant fighting...

Plus, I come here to get away from political discussions because a lot of people can't handle them maturely... so I just avoid them. Not saying this board CAN'T handle them... I just would probably delete my account if half the front page was taken up with Obama v. Bush comparisons and why "democratic liberals are the only reason the country is in the *******" arguments. (I'm not saying at all that's how I feel, it just usually turns out to be conversations like that).

ETA: I know you weren't talking to me... I just figured this was the best post to interject my 2 cents.

You're obviously party of the Obummer socialist internet hit squad. Today it's political debates on a sports message board, tomorrow you'll be taking our guns and gold. We have to stand up to you people.

I'll say it. It can't.

That's why we lock them.
