I didn't realize bath salts were still "a thing".
That was my initial reaction.Sounds like capitulation by Al. We suck. He now admits it.
This is 2023 not 2003. It doesn't take 5 years let alone 8 years to turn over a roster. The portal has accelerated the process so much. The field house is won't have a huge impact. Schools open/renovate facilities all the time. It not going to produce a huge surge in recruiting. Even if it open for the 2025 season likely any impact won't be felt until the 26/27 class.
Recruiting is subpar at best
Coaching leaves a lot to be desired
Talent.. not there
Development of players?
NIL - not even close
It’s not 1964. You need to score points
I love you enthusiasm, but you’re way off here
stay optimistic Al, it's great to see someone with an : we can do it attitude posting that way.2023, plateau year, 4-8 to 6-6
2024, plateau year, 4-8 to 6-6
2025, 6-6, Pinstripe Bowl
(Football Fieldhouse Opens)
2026, 7-5, Outback Bowl
2027, 10-2, Rose Bowl
OMG! 8 years to rebuild a football program, only at Rutgers would this even be considered possible. US presidents only get a max of 8 years to change the world, yet it takes 8 years to get a college football team to play .500 football at Rutgers. For the context of our situation, yes. This is a big job which requires 8 years of effort if the status quo is maintained. Things can be accelerated if our fanbase supports NIL, and the football fieldhouse is built.
Who is responsible for that? No one saying top line talent but certainly enough to win more than 6 games in year 5. There no reason you can't put together enough talent in 5 years to win 7 plus games.Wrong, it takes 5 years if you are unable to recruit top line talent from the portal. We will continue to use the portal to fill holes. Not expecting a huge surge, but it should help us get a handful of 4 ⭐️ players.

Come on even Indiana, Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois, and Purdue have coaches that didn't need 5+ seasons to win more than 6 games. Heck everyone likes to say Franklin can't coach but even he had two 9 win season at Vanderbilt in 3 years yet you think it unreasonable to expect that from Schiano? You can't say those programs are so much better supported.Penn State is well supported, so you don’t have a proper frame of reference.
How so, when you have 3 guaranteed losses in Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State. Another two in Wisconsin and likely USC. And then Maryland, with whom we’ve struggled with. Playing a Bug Ten schedule like Rutgers is, and you run out of opportunities very quickly.
This is a play not to lose, bend but don’t break, stuck in the early 2000s type programThis is a defense first program. Scoring points isn’t as important to the head coach. Defense is ready to go, from a talent and depth perspective, led by All American candidates Aaron Lewis and Max Melton. There is a solid group of starters backed up by quality depth. Offense still has a ways to go.
Embarrassingly embarrassingFor the context of our situation, yes. This is a big job which requires 8 years of effort if the status quo is maintained. Things can be accelerated if our fanbase supports NIL, and the football fieldhouse is built.
Even at the NFL level, the teams who win big today are offense first teams who play to score every time they touch the ball like the Chiefs and Eagles. 2 more years of dinosaur football and then Hobbs can hire an offense first HC.This is a play not to lose, bend but don’t break, stuck in the early 2000s type program
You need to score points to win. Not play pop Warner offense and hope your defense can save the day
It’s not the big east 2006. Evolve, or continue getting smoked
Too much logicCome on even Indiana, Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois, and Purdue have coaches that didn't need 5+ seasons to win more than 6 games. It's all about recruiting first. Then coaching! We’re still building the offense.
Al, what make you a better prognosticator than Leonte Carroo??2023, plateau year, 4-8 to 6-6

That was a pure gift and wasn't based on athletic accomplishments. We did play in the gator bowl in 2021. Keep the APR high enough and with another pandemic we could be there.
Well, we have 2 kinds of the "we'll never be good enough fans": 1. We'll never be good enough because "even Jesus couldn't win at Rutgers with Satan as OC" 2. We'll never be good enough while Schiano is the HC.stay optimistic Al, it's great to see someone with an : we can do it attitude posting that way.
The we';ll never be good enough attitude many RU fans have makes being optimistic about RU FB frustrating at times when trying to see a bright football future for the team .
That nameless offense first HC is who'll be coaching in the Rose Bowl.Even at the NFL level, the teams who win big today are offense first teams who play to score every time they touch the ball like the Chiefs and Eagles. 2 more years of dinosaur football and then Hobbs can hire an offense first HC.
A program with a head coach for whom scoring points isn't important is a program that will lose a lot of games. This is a defense first program. Scoring points isn’t as important to the head coach. We have no building materials. Bring me some two by fours and some cement and then we can talkWe’re still building the offense.
Hey , they may give Greg another extension for beating Louisville in 2006I love how Greg is given another two seasons just to reach 6 wins.
You are very pessimistic. Most of us believe we will be in the National Championship in 2024.2023, plateau year, 4-8 to 6-6

If Schiano doesn’t get us to a bowl in the next 2 years he should be fired. For the context of our situation, yes. This is a big job which requires 8 years of effort if the status quo is maintained. Things can be accelerated if our fanbase supports NIL, and the football fieldhouse is built.
We’re a basketball school. The football program has no juice at this point. Schiano is just bullshitting and cashing paychecks as long as he can.Sounds like capitulation by Al. We suck. He now admits it.
