I think we're even worse than last year.

And that is saying a lot. Stansbury's "motion" offense looks like early 90s UNLV compared to this garbage.

Came here to post this. We are most definitely worse than last year, and we were terrible last year. I am beyond frustrated. I am embarrassed. I have never gone to the athletic administration and voiced displeasure, but I am going to now.

No "think" about it....

We are as bad of a team as I have followed in 20-ish years. When we had bad seasons back then, we seemed to build on the season and definitely came back at least somewhat improved the next year.

We refuse to defend, refuse to rebound, suck at FT's and are completely lost in every facet of offense.

I keep trying to convince myself that nobody could win with these players. Ware and flat top are lost causes in my mind, but we could be doing much better with a lot of the remaining guys.

We don't do anything well. Moreover, we do most things terribly. Last year, we actually blew 20-point leads against lsu and tamu. This year, we hardly ever have a 3-point lead at any point. We actually improved during the season and even won a conference tourney game. This year, our last win most likely will have come in January.

Ray already had his Maine last season and now this. Strike 3 is looming.

We refuse to defend
THIS is my biggest problem with this team. I can understand the offensive limitations. But there's no excuse for the lack of effort on defense. At this point, I'm not even sure Ray deserves to get a 3rd season.

Ray will get another year but if I were the AD I would fire him after this season. Ten straight losses in the ****** SEC is pathetic I don't care who you are. My interest in MSU basketball is somewhere below women's soccer right now.

No worries.

We should have a few big-time coaches knocking down the door to coach here, like many said.******

He needs one more year to show big improvement. He lost a lot due to injuries in his first couple of recruiting classes. Next year is it though. Either show big improvement or leave

I can beat that 20-ish since I have been following MSU basketball since my freshman year in 1961. I have never seen a worse defensive team in all those years - ever. Just watching Borchert tonight and isolating on him. Opposing player drives down the center and he steps aside and watches the layup. Occasionally he will swat at the ball but never leaves the floor. Time after time and game after game it is the same. He provides absolutely no help around the hoop defending. None. But the other big men are not much better. I thought that rick ray was going to make sure there would be 40 minutes of hustle and defense. That "ain't" happening.

I remember that quite well. How it was dead certain that we would have one of three well known candidates.

Tonight was the first time in, **** I don't know how long it has been, that I had an opportunity to watch at least part of one of our basketball games and chose to watch True Detective episodes I have already seen twice.

After a while it is like stabbing yourself with a fork in the eye you know.

Why take the cork of the fork?

We lost to Florida 82-47 in Starkville last year. We lost to Florida again 83-58 last year. We lost to Missouri 78-36 last year. We lost to Vanderbilt 72-31 last year. We lost to Kentucky 85-55 last year. We lost to North Carolina 95-49 last year. We lost to Marquette 89-62 last year. We lost to Alabama 75-43 in Starkville last year. We lost to Arkansas 96-70 last year.

Last year we lost 3 games by 40+ points. Last year we lost 6 games by 30+ points. Last year we lost 10 games by 20+ points. This year we have lost 0 games by 40+ points. This year we have lost 0 games by 30+ points. This year we have lost 3 games by 20+ points.

How in the hell can you say we are worse this year?

Also, for eckie to say a guy who just dropped 18 is a "lost cause" is just stupid. Fred hasn't lived up to his billing, but don't good retard.

Good info. Although most of us are frustrated, this does show there has been some improvement.

There is improvement in that there is more depth and last year, we had just absurd numbers of turnovers. When you have 30 turnovers, you end up getting blown out. But we are easily as bad or worse than last year on defense.

I'm not one for comparing scores. There are too many variables at work, but we forgot how bad the middle of the season was last year because we showed a lot of improvement at the end. We are not playing at that level that we played at the end of the season last year.

That is one of our main improvements this year is really limiting the turnovers, and making other teams turn it over more. I agree our defense is atrocious, but that is not really Ray's fault. Our D is atrocious because borchert is awful on D and Roq is not strong very good either. Adding Fallou, Daniels, and Houston next year will drastically help our interior D, which will in turn help our perimeter D since our guards won't have to sag to help as much.

And I agree to an extent about comparing scores, but the drastic change in our scores from this year to last year is telling. We have improved, we're just still not good. Next season shows at least a little promise, though.

Thats the biggest problem Ray has at this point.

Not even close. Ray has about a million problems bigger than who is watching the games. No fans, I don't care how loyal, are going to show up in droves to watch a team on a 10 game skid.

If Ray wants a full Hump, then he needs to take care of his end of the bargain first.

Guess it is simple matter of perspective ...

This year we have lost 0 games by 30+ points. This year we have lost 3 games by 20+ points.

How in the hell can you say we are worse this year?

Where to begin? Last year we finished next to last in the SEC with a 4-14 record. During that SEC run we managed to set the MSU record for SEC Losses in a row with 13.

This year, in an arguabley worse SEC than last year, we are tied for dead last with USCe and with three games remaining, the ONLY team we still have a chance to finish above is that same USCe.

So, we MUST win at least two of the three to have a better SEC record than last year. Lose the next two and we also need to win the USCe game to stay out of the cellar (and that is ONLY if USCe loses their next two also). Lose out in the final 3 games and not only do we end up last in a weak SEC conference but Ray ties his 13 loss SEC record, he moves in a tie for TOTAL SEC losses in a single MSU season AND will have set the MSU record for number of losses in consecutive seasons by a MSU coach ... period.

Please explain 'how' we have improved and after last night, you can't use terms like 'effort, passion, swarming defense, motion offense, ...'

How can you say that Thomas and Ware are lost causes? Thomas was 7-12 from the floor last night, yeah he's a lost cause.
Ware is our only Big man, he gets no help inside. Stop trashing our players, if you want to trash someone trash Rick Ray and Scott Sticklin.
Ray is in over his head, and never should have been hired by our AD. Overall, I blame Scott Stricklin for our downfall.
We kept Stans on too long and then no one would take the dumpster fire of a job at MSU.
I also have no confidence in our AD to make a good replacement hire for Ray or to allow the coach to recruit the AAU players we need.

Last Season was worse than this year to date. We have a few games left, if we lose out then this year will be worse.
