… about a month ago I wound up in the ER and subsequently the hospital where I was told those words no one wants to hear “You’ve got cancer.” Specifically cancer of the pancreas. Today I am starting my first chemo treatment. So far so good, nausea and pain meds doing their job. What’s the Packs experience? My oncologist game plan is 4, 7 hr chemo sessions and then possibly surgery to remove the cancer. Any of you been down this road?

Damn, man, so sorry to hear this. I don't have personal experience enough with it to give any insight, but just wanted to say I hope the chemo helps and you can get it under control. Will be praying for you bro.

First praying for you. My understanding it is a easy cancer to cure if it is caught early. I got a friend who was Stage 3 and it's been five years. Was it by chance or did you notice something wrong?

Sorry to hear. My wife had non-resectable pancreatic cancer and succumbed after 18 months. Actually had to stop treatment as doctor said treatment was going to kill her within a week. (destroying her platelets). She survived another couple of months.
Had cyberknife procedure-which probably added a few more months.

Friend's wife had resectable pancreatic cancer (whipple) surgery. She died after 10 or so years from other causes.
So....not the kiss of death it once was

I started feeling just really crappy, lethargic and weak and then I started turning jaundiced, that’s what got me to the ER. The cancer was blocking my bile duct causing bile to build up in me. Did a biopsy and put in a stent to open my bile duct. Still don’t feel 100% from all that but I’m feeling better than I did.

I'm rooting for you, man. Lots of positive advances in pancreatic cancer treatment in the last decade, so I'm hopeful that you'll get the benefit of those. Keep your chin up.

What made you go to the ER? I'll be thinking of you as you go through this ****.

Edit to add - I see your explanation of the ER visit.

And @maroonmadman lemme add - I'm probably one of the most private people around when it comes to sharing personal things. I completely get your reluctance to make a post. If sharing your burden makes it lighter for you, don't be timid about doing it.

There's 3 things all real Sixpackers excel at:
  1. Eating
  2. Talking shiit
  3. Rallying around fellow Bulldawgs

Thoughts and prayers. I just escaped a near death situation, you can too. I firmly believe having a strong will and confidence you will beat it really helps you do so. When you give up, your body will too

17 cancer. Chemo sucks, but you can get through it. If the meds they put you on aren't enough for the nausea, try some medical mj. It'll help. Focus on the things that are important and bring positive energy.
Ditto. No matter your stance on smoking or eating a plant, you would change your tune after 1 time of chemo nausea. So they say………. “All my guns fell out of my boat about 2 years ago”

I'm sorry to hear that. God will give you guidance and peace. I've learned that illnesses bring people closer to God, which is evident by looking at the responses to your post. Pancreatic cancer is not the death sentence it once was and I pray that you beat the hell out of it! I've never had cancer, but I have seen friends and family with it. It's easy for me to say since I'm not in your shoes, but mindset is they key to victory. Either way, your soul is eternal. Bless you sir.

I don’t want to imagine the fear after hearing you’ve got it. Good luck with the meds. I hope they work quickly and painlessly.

My wife lost a brother to pancreatic cancer about ten years ago. A lot has advanced in those ten years as far as treatment. He literally gave up when diagnosed. A big part of the battle is mental and attitude. I have a good friend and golfing buddy who was weeks from retirement about a year ago and was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He’s had the best attitude and outlook of anyone I’ve ever been around and he’s beating it. You can too.

My first cousin was diagnosed about a year and a half ago I guess. Did some things to get him as healthy as possible and then they did the Whipple procedure on him. He 'rang the bell' about two months ago I guess and feels fine, no signs of it anywhere.

Praying for you! Look up Fenbendezole and Ivermectin treatments for cancer. A friend of ours was taking the conventionally prescribe treatments (chemo/radiation) but was given a couple of months to live. She took fenbendezole and is doing great after 3 years.
