Yes, many were but that's besides the point. They didn't know he had a gun nor was he being violent when they tackled him and beat his head with the teargas canister. The J6ers beat the F out of 175 cops and Mango pardoned them.
I for another am even more shocked...but I assume, and this hasn't been reported in anything I've read, that there will be continued investigations on potential charges other than civil rights.

well I read the other day that someone, I thought from DHS, had completed a preliminary investigation, was reporting to Congress, and further investigation was ongoing.
That's why I had asked the question about discharge of pretti's gun. That wasn't mentioned in the report...Although I'm not certain that would be, or not be, a mitigating data point.

I would be shocked if they'd identified Pretti from the previous week at all by the time he was killed and even more shocked if the agents in question knew about him. This screams "we're looking for any reason to discredit the guy who got killed" to me. You know what, I'm sure of it. A criminal complaint, opens new tab for Ibrahim includes as evidence a photograph that allegedly shows him near the steps of the Senate and displaying his DEA firearm and badge (page 11).
A search for the word “firearms” on the Capitol Breach Cases page with the list of defendants returns five results, including for Alberts and Ibrahim, while the word “weapon” returns, opens new tab 79 results (one case could include multiple defendants).
Rioters also used “makeshift weapons” including destroyed office furniture, fencing and stolen riot shields, according to the USAO-DC page on the status of prosecutions related to the attack.
One such indictment alleged that two defendants, opens new tab, Isaac Westbury and Aaron James, used and carried a law enforcement shield during the attack. Another indictment, opens new tab for defendant Shane Jenkins alleged he used multiple weapons, including a tomahawk axe, a flag pole, a desk drawer and “stick-like objects” during the Capitol attack.
During the 2022 congressional hearings on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, Cassidy Hutchinson, a top aide to Trump’s chief of staff at the time, Mark Meadows, also contradicted the claim that rioters were not armed.
Hutchinson testified that both Meadows and Trump knew about people who had attended Trump’s rally at the Ellipse and later marched to the Capitol armed with AR-15 rifles, handguns, brass knuckles and batons, Reuters reported."

But here's another thing to consider, the police were quickly overwhelmed and didn't have much of a chance to check for weapons so we actually don't know how many got through. Yes, you are supposed to give a sh it as it gives context to the situation and refutes the false reporting over the past few days. The truth is, in fact, important.
1) Pretti was looking for trouble. He had been at multiple protests. He was antagonizing and breaking the law at previous protests. Pretti WAS not a "legal observer" as lefties on this board and in the news claimed. He as not "directing traffic" as lefties on this board and in the news claimed.
2) He violated several laws, repeatedly. In addition to breaking out a tailight, he is in violation of his carry license multiple times. He was violent and deranged. His attack on law enforcement the week before dispels any notion that he was there to direct traffic.
NONE of that means he should have been shot. It was an accident. An accident of his own making.
1). Yes he was there to alert the community about ICE's presence and observe and record their actions. ICE had just murdered another citizen the week prior, so he was part of the organized resistance to make sure ICE didn't continue to terrorize citizens and members of the community extra judicially. He WAS a legal observer. That's simply a fact. He was directing traffic while being a legal observer of ICE's actions.
2). I think its debatable what laws he violated, but he certainly wasn't violent and deranged. Quit bringing up traffic, he was letting cars pass through safely the day he died when the ICE agents attacked and murdered him. He yelled at ICE officers and kicked a tail light, days after a member of his community was murdered. Its a nothingburger.
NONE of that means he should have been shot. It wasn't an accident. It was a murder by ICE agents

if the local government wasn’t so stupid, none of this would have happened. Instead, they directed local law-enforcement, not to come to the aid of federal law enforcement. But as you can see over the last several days when local law-enforcement is involved in the right way, it results in less of the shenanigans and more arrests for idiots who break the law.

What do I want payback/revenge for? I'm completely disappointed with Trump 2.0 because it's been a complete change from his first term. He's leaning into authoritarianism, blatantly taking payments for pardons, and overriding the wishes of states utilizing federal agents. I was hoping some adults would join his cabinet, but it seems no one worth a **** had any interest in joining Trump 2.0 so he's stuck with unqualified sycophants running his agencies.
