what makes you think he was in that portal?
Shrewsbury buyout was 4M.....Pikes was almost triple that amount.....common sense would tell you they put feelers out to Pike.
I'm surprised Notre Dame didn't hire Izzo or Oates

Agreed. Better situation and better potential here, plus, less pressure here - and he loves it here. The only place I worry about is UConn and Hurley isn't leaving there anytime soon.
The interest has to go both ways, I'm sure ND would've loved to land Pikes. But I'm sure Pikes has told his agent he's not interested in leaving RU

I think the version of Coach Pikiell that equates to the current version of Coach Shrewsbury is Coach Pikiell of whatever year it was that Rutgers first made the NCAA tournament. The accomplishment that has attracted attention to Coach Shrewsbury is raising Penn State from the dead to being a solid team, which is also Coach Pikiell's claim to fame. But that was several years ago, so he is not in the limelight for that anymore.

What do you mean nobody cares about press conferences. Anybody that watched our press conference following Hofstra would understand that press conference mattered and that that briefing was a tremendous commercial for Rutgers and Steve Pikiell. It absolutely matters.

Yet the self absorbed, self proclaimed legend doesn’t see his flawed logic or the fact that the buyout is $15m which no school is going to pay in addition to a 7 year contract.

On top of his increase in pay from his current monster contract, theyd have to pay $15,000,000 on top of that. Pike has been given a lifetime contract by hobbs
But is it a good finance transaction? The answer is no. Just because you have the means doesn’t mean you do a bad business deal
