Hubert Davis:
- 33% win percentage against Quad 1 teams
- biggest blown lead in the history of the round of 64
- biggest blown halftime lead in Championship Game history
- needed OT to avoid the biggest blown lead in the history of the round of 32
- top recruits constantly transferring away from UNC

Y’all are justified for wanting to move on from Davis. People do this same **** to us for wanting to win more games and so many of our own fans buy into it/take it.

It’s okay to expect a return on your investment as a fan. It’s okay to wanna win more when you’ve already seen the program is capable.

Davis wasn’t AS bad as Pope but he wasn’t good enough to win at the level thats possible at a program with all of UNC’s resources.

Hell at ANY power 4 program you should be trying to win championships. If a coach has been there so many years and it doesn’t look like they’re capable of doing that or doing that anymore it’s okay to move on. There’s so much money on the line. These guys are making millions to win games. I don’t feel sorry for them.

You could honestly add something about his coaching decisions at the end of the NC game. What separates the best coaches from the worst, IMO, is how they handle a close game in the final minute or so. That is one reason I am not high on Golden. Even the national media have ridiculed him for that last loss and how it was played.

Sounding like Otz said thanks but no thanks according to a Field of 68 post tonight.

I wondered. He like McCollum has spent the majority of his career in that area. May be content to stay there.

If Donovan say no think they end up with Byington. I don’t think Lloyd is going to leave Zona.

I’m surprised UNC hasn’t tried the desperate “make the best possible hire by making said coach the highest paid in the country” like Kentucky did when they hire Cal. And that’s probably what Kentucky will have to do. Spend the most amount of money possible for the best possible coach.

I thought we tried that with Hurley.

That was more of a “reach for the stars” attempt (Like going after Donovan in 2007 after going back to back). They were never going to take that offer.

Realistically Calipari wasn’t the best coach in college basketball in 2009. One of the top 5-10, sure. But there were better. To me, you go after someone “realistic” with a huge offer. Say Oats or Ozelberger or May. Offer them $10-13 million a year. Someone who hasn’t won it and is considered a top 10 coach but not necessarily the best in the game.

It’s a similar tactic to LSU giving Lane Kiffin a ridiculous amount of cash. You do what you have to do. No one considers Kiffin a top 5 coach but he could be at a school like LSU.

I do like the idea of going after a good coach that hasn’t won a title yet. Still hungry.
