I'm seeing a lot of 8-4 predictions for WVU this fall

For all that recruiting advantage that you claim Okie State has over Wvu then why in the 4 years since we have been members of Big 12 has wvu had 14 players drafted in the NFL draft and Okie state has only had 4? Wvu had more players drafted last year alone then okie state has had in the last 4 years.
The geographical proximiity to more 4-5 star players doesn't mean they signed them but only that they are closer was my point. Personally, I think it shows DH has done more with less regional opportunity. Insiders have critiqued OK St. for weak recruiting classes lately but they were still a ranked team last year so it can be surmissed that they develop college players and teams effectively. Now, whether they develop professional level players is the question... K-state is another team that gets the most out of fifth year 1-star walkons or juco transfers who never turn pro but leave their hearts on the college field and play as a team.

I would have either fired him or extended him after the Kansas State game.

But I'm not the AD. And finding someone to replace him isn't an easy task. Other schools of our caliber will pay more than WVU will and many of them have more natural advantages than WVU.

I'll fully admit the next

For all we know Lyons may have wanted to fire DH but with the large coaching turnover he felt it was better to keep him instead of paying the 8 million it would have cost to buy him and his staff out and hire someone who wasn't his 1st choice. If DH doesn't live up to whatever the admin expectations are for the season and ends up being let go we will find out how much the admin will be willing to pay considering it will be the 1st coach hired with the money we have since joining the big 12.

Urban myth. Most schools don't give an unproven HC a raise, sweetheart, deal after a three loss season with the former HC's recruits. BTW: I feel that history has shown OL to be less than a good personnel judge.

Um, that raise was celebrated AT THE TIME as he was at risk of being poached by another school.

I remember our fans were shitting themselves because they thought Arkansas was going to hire him after the John L Smith debacle.

Well you can't make a lousy personnel deal (lousy and one sided and not in WVU's favor) because you think the guy might walk. That was not OL's best moment. LOL
