This is what is ridiculous about this whole situation...Cal did not denigrate Coach Stoops or the football program. He did mention the football team when it wasn't necessary, but this whole "Cal disrespected Coach Stoops and the football team!" is just people putting their own spin to make it seem like something it wasn't.

First of all ... this type of thing can't be ignored because with a guy like Calipari ... dismissing his comments only enables him. I would be happy to let it go ... everyone would. "Letting it go" won't happen until Cal learns to shut his mouth and stay in his lane. Opening his mouth in this way will bring a load of sh*t down on his flat head. It will all "die down" as long as Cal doesn't do anything stupid again, but we all know that's a crap shoot. The pinhead is wired for chaos. It’s the culture Barney has created to pit bb against other sports. The guy has been a total failure as a steward of this program and it doesn’t have to be this way. Bb should get what it needs no questions asked. Barney seemed to like the battle between stoops and cal or he woulda just kept his yap shut instead of this built up presser he did. Cal wouldn’t say boo if Barney just did what he should and make sure bb is always taken care of. It’s a low overhead sport that brings in disproportionate revenues. I don’t know too many people outside of alum or Kentuckians who would spend money on UK Merch if not for our basketball tradition. So it’s a no brainer to make sure that program that has been on top for it to stay on top. Barney is the one acting like there is some sort rotation to take care of programs. Basketball brings in enough to sustain itself and most of the athletic program. It’s also why the national media for generations have given a crap for uk athletics. I’m not happy with Cals results the last several years but no way in hell do I was Barney near another bb hire.

I'm not happy at all with Cal's statement because I think Stoops can easily get a better job and now he can leave and have a reason to do so and a clear conscience about it.

I think mitchs support of both programs that make a ton of money AND him dragging his feet on the mess called NILare hurting us.

It is well documented that the Basketball team had a losing season year before last. People seem to forget that the football team was 4-6 (5-6) year before last. The reason? This is a basketball school... Still, Cal shouldn't have said so during an interview.
Stoops has built a middle of the road SEC program but we should not forget that a chance was taken on him. He was and is paid very well and the football facilities are light years ahead of when Rich Brooks was here. Brooks proved we could build something here but Joker couldn't keep it going.

And Sabin couldn't have kept it going either with no real facilities improvements in our ADs first ten years.

Fat Cal (c'mon dude, sit up, show some pride) was so out of line w/ his comments.
To call Alabama a 'football school' and make the comparison that he coaches at a 'basketball school'... when his 'basketball school' actually has to recruit and play against that 'football school' (in football) is too much... it's over-the-line, rude, tone deaf, defensive, jealous, naive, clueless, and out-of-touch...
Never mind, the fact that he has lessened our status as a 'basketball school'... while Stoops is doing something that many said could never be done... let alone, sustain.

Cal told the truth when he said Ky was a basketball school. Ask anyone what sport Ky is noted for and they will say basketball every time. Ask anyone what sport is Alabama noted for and anyone would say football. Cal did not trash our football program but did stay in his lane. If anyone was out of there lane it was Stoops and Mitch

Let's see which team is it that is finishing on a high note the last 5/6 years? I know I'm a much happier fb fan right now than I am a bb fan. Cal stepped in a pile of HS and he showed his true colors just like he has with the oad/Sharpe fiascos! Also, I hope you do realize that 11 of the last 15 NC in cfb have come from the SEC with 4 different "football schools" Stoops has done a terrific job building the football brand starting from scratch in the batters box driving Hyundai while CCC was given keys to a Mercedes starting on 3rd base. I know which one of them I think would be the easiest to replace.

Which is the last program to win a NC? I love both programs and think both programs have great coaches, quit trying to tear one of them down. What are the odds of uk winning a NC in football and what are the chances of us winning one in BB? How man of those NCs in football has UK won, I would be delirpusly happy if we could win the SEC East.

What our basketball team has done the past 2 years is what UK football is always like. We will never win a title or even make the playoffs in football. It’s not even a conversation to have. UK BB is one of the 3-4 teams that have a chance to win it all this year. Quick little comparison to show that you’re happy with mediocre results, thus why Stoops is being praised instead of being on the hot seat where he belongs. I can’t believe Stoops has brainwashed people into thinking that mediocre results are accomplishments. You think Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia or Clemson would have stuck with Stoops after so many seasons ended in failure? Nope, because they are football schools.
