I know that's against conventional wisdom because I think if you went by the book, it would probably say at home, go for for OT because you have the crowd on your side. I think that this was definately an exception in this case.
If Relf had thrown a pick, I would have had a hard time second guessing Dan and Les because Relf was having one of his best nights- actually probably the best- and I know that it would be a call where we were trying to win the game. Kind of like how I'm not upset at Ballard's fumble in OT- that was a turnover because he was hustling and trying to win the game, and a guy just hit the ball with his helmet.
Let's be honest here- Relf's fumble killed us. If you have to blame it on something. And that's a shame because this was one of his best games. We were in control up until that point. He fumbles, Arkansas gets the ball, and then they hit a home run on a pass for a TD. That was a 10 point swing.

Can't say it any better than that.Coach34 said:Bottom line- we played as well as we can play...we almost had 500 yards...we just came up a little short against a very good team with a 1st round draft pick at QB...doing that with half our team being Crooms recruits is acceptable to me...better days are ahead

He had his best game of the year though - certainly he is best SEC game. Hell, he should have had a good game though. Ark gives up 30 points in every SEC game and they're the worst in the league against the run.
Over all we played hard and did a lot of things to keep Ark off balance. Much better than some games. But that last 1:00 in regulation we went back into our 'don't screw up shell'. We had them on the ropes and should have taken a chance at the TD. You knew Ark had a huge advantage in OT. Just don't understand their thinking in that situation.patdog said:It's not like you can't kick the FG for the tie if you don't get the TD. I'm not questioning kicking the FG on 4th down. You HAVE to kick the FG in that situation. I'm questioning the playcalling on 1st and 2nd downs. It's like we weren't even trying to score a TD.
