In retrospect it seems inevitable that the changing landscape of college football over the last 25 years was going to create winners and losers, and leave some once high-flying programs struggling. Nebraska, penn state, syracuse, Tennessee are some other programs that seem possibly destined to be stuck in 2nd gear, or worse. Most of them don't recruit the kind of talent they used to.
Hate to say it, but PSU is only down now, but with the right HC, it should get back to being one of the top programs .
Penn St has the type of fans and booster that will put it back among the top college FB programs.
Nebraska I'm not sure about, but wouldn't bet they won't be a top program if their boosters are willing to help make that happen.
Tennessee still puts them in the stands, but think they are and have been a program very close to the top , but not quite good enough top be considered one.
I won't see them short and say they can't be one of the best, because of the type of support I think they are getting from their fans and boosters.
Syracuse's days have passed and doubt they can raise enough money to bring glory days back.
