I think some are amazed at their record with virtually no offense. Nobody seems to be taking RU lightly.
Iowa doesn't have Marvin Harrison or TreVeyon Henderson. We really missed Powell on D last week.
I have some fears as to what that might mean.
He was our best triangle LB. I am very concerned of how we read power and counter without him.We really missed Powell on D last week.

Rutgers has had no problem driving down the field against virtually every team we’ve played this year, including Michigan and Ohio State. It’s when we get to the red zone where things become problematic. Its hard to drive down the field just with running the ball as the Jets ,Giants and Rutgers have found out.The absence of a passing attack just makes it easier to crowd the line of scrimmage to stop the run.
You had to knowledge to put into words what I saw.. without knowing how to express it properly. Missing him last game made me think of all teh time where he stepped into the correct place at teh correct time.. heck.. he got there early somewhat often. He was our best triangle LB. I am very concerned of how we read power and counter without him.
We gave up 328 yds of total offense to OSU without Powell. We really missed Powell on D last week.
I have some fears as to what that might mean.
Are Ohio State and Michigan the same teams? We gave up 328 yds of total offense to OSU without Powell.
WE gave up 415 yds of total offense to Michigan WITH Powell.
I don't see how you can make a statement like you did, with facts. Toure had an interception and a sack, when was the last time Powell did that in 1 game?
Jennings leads the team in tackles, Toure is second (not bad for a NON starter) and Powell is third.
Toure filled in wonderfully for Powell and the defense was very good compared to previous years against OSU.
Like I have said before Toure is hit or miss right now. He missed some very simple plays that cost us, and then made some huge plays. He is NOT a triangle interior LB. He is an edge LB. Massive difference. We gave up 328 yds of total offense to OSU without Powell.

I am worried we are going to get Gap, Power, and trapped to death this weekend. Toure plays edge and outside well. Jennings is an ILB but slow and struggles with reading misdirection. You had to knowledge to put into words what I saw.. without knowing how to express it properly. Missing him last game made me think of all teh time where he stepped into the correct place at teh correct time.. heck.. he got there early somewhat often.
That kind of defense in motion.. where everything moves in sync and changes its shape to stop what's coming more often than not.. that was what I saw in 2006 compared to 2005 defense. I thought losing Neill and.. was it Haw?.. and someone else on D was going to cost us then. Instead, because of having the right pieces in the right places.. the D was awesome.
And this years D was close to getting to that level. And last week, without Powell... it was just clunky. I know OSU offense has some great players.. but they have not been a great offense all season. I think they are number one simply because everyone knows they still have to play Michigan... and the rest of college football has no truly dominant teams. There is some parity at the top. They might has well have 4 or 5 teams tied for number 1.
Iowa had a bad O last year.. and still scored 27 on us in Piscataway. Yes.. I am worried. We have won this year when I was worried for, apparently, no reason... but that's me.. expect the best while looking ahead for the worst.
you gotta ignore Mel and his sidekick. they do provide some comedic genius at timesWe gave up 328 yds of total offense to OSU without Powell.

He is a giant loss. It was felt last week and will be felt this week big team.We really missed Powell on D last week.

stopAre Ohio State and Michigan the same teams?
Did Ohio State cheat like Michigan?
Did we have a bye week before Michigan like we did with Ohio State?
Are we the same defense at home and no the road? no home field advantage for our defense?
Talk stats all you want.. Michigan punished us with 51 key rushing yards of QB scrambles for first downs... something Ohio State did not do (-6 rushing yards for McCord)
I guess we'll see vs Iowa if my fears are justified. I hope you are correct.
A lot of that has to do with the fact that Langan and Bowman are almost exclusively additional blockers.Rutgers has had no problem driving down the field against virtually every team we’ve played this year, including Michigan and Ohio State. It’s when we get to the red zone where things become problematic.
This exactly. The play calling suddenly changes when we get into the red zone and the Offense looks totally lost. Stop the BS and continue with the plays got us down there. Score the dam TD.Rutgers has had no problem driving down the field against virtually every team we’ve played this year, including Michigan and Ohio State. Weren’t 14 of Iowa points scored by their Defense on Rutgers turnovers last year ?You had to knowledge to put into words what I saw.. without knowing how to express it properly. stopstop
no one is saying its transitive however, what he said is correct in that Powell, while good, is not 'the man' per the stat sheet. Now we all know assignments and positioning on varied plays can be made by the guy NOT on the tackle or in the spotlight but............he's not wrong
Which is fatal if you can only drive down field on the ground until the 20 yard line. If you can't score from further out and you're unlikely to get to the red zone very often, each trip there has to count otherwise you have a largely useless offense. FGs don't win games.Rutgers has had no problem driving down the field against virtually every team we’ve played this year, including Michigan and Ohio State. Yet no one has really been able to do it all that well against us 9 games in.Its hard to drive down the field just with running the ball as the Jets ,Giants and Rutgers have found out.The absence of a passing attack just makes it easier to crowd the line of scrimmage to stop the run.
If gef21 is concerned, then I'm concerned too.He was our best triangle LB. I am very concerned of how we read power and counter without him.
How’s that? Are you saying Iowa is a better running/Passing team? I say we score 23 points. He is a giant loss. It was felt last week and will be felt this week big team.

What often happens is that the first down play near the goal results in a rush for no gain or a lossThis exactly. The play calling suddenly changes when we get into the red zone and the Offense looks totally lost. Stop the BS and continue with the plays got us down there. Score the dam TD.
You don’t think Tyreem Powell is a big loss ? His absence will be missed every game. Yes last week for sure and this week too. Has nothing to do with who’s better , all big teams are tough. We also have penn state next week. If you don’t think Powell will be missed I don’t know what to tell you. How’s that? Are you saying Iowa is a better running/Passing team? I say we score 23 points.
This. Iowa’s offense is no weak that there is no sense in taking a lot of chances against them.Against Iowa, there should be no more “risky red-zone” play calling
i would be happy with 5 field goals.
remember we gave up a pick 6 to them last year too
Kicks over Pixed wins the game
I never said he was going to score points. You must be confusing me with some other poster . I also never said Iowa is scoring 24 points. Again you are confused . I think RU wins this game . But if you don’t think Powell would help hold their offense to fewer points then you have not been watching him play. He is NFL caliber.Never said Powell isn’t a loss. He is not going to help us score points against Iowa.i’m curious to know why someone thinks Iowa is scoring 24 points ? They may as every game is different however I’m going with Rutgers being able to stop them from doing that.
