None of those people want to make it simple. At least not the collective majority, bc I can assure you the math behind it isn't hard.

Take SS as an example. Tying it to individual growth accounts and stock markets is the way to go but that takes control out of the governments hand. They don't want that.
So the collective majority, regardless of how it has been comprised for decades and decades, has never wanted to make it simple.
...why?

Side rant. I'm a got damn CPA (not the patdog kind) and the W4 withholding process drives me insane - especially if either spouse has multiple W2s. Just give me a minimum amount to withhold on every W2 paycheck and I'll do the math myself. I don't want to fill out a combination of different tax withholding statuses, exemptions, and extra withholdings to ball park the ****. Let me calc the taxes and divide by 12, 24, 26 or whatever and that's what you give to Uncle Sam on my behalf.
Don't look at me. I don't understand that damn thing either. When clients ask, I just project what their total tax will be, allocate between spouses, and tell them to go to their payroll dept and ask what do I need to do to get this much withheld.

And some payroll departments won't even do that b/c they don't want that liability.

I don't know glfr. Figured you had it already aswered and i was just waiting to read the book.

Maybe it has something to do with why they can't pass any simple bill. Stupidity? Greed? Special interest?

I'm curious as to why you might be using an EIN
You can't really open any sort of a business account without an EIN. I mean some banks might let you but a lot want.

HOA account? EIN
Wanna sell used cars on the side? EIN
Snow Cones? EIN

Obviously there are some things you don't have to have a business account for but a lot of things you do.

Yes. Its a 17ing joke. Some payroll departments have let me just write in what i wanted withheld from each check but many won't let you do this.

Income tax is a 17n goof.

We need a flat tax on wealth. It is so much easier to monitor now and has always been easier to manage. But congress won't consider it, because their sorry a$$e$ are owned.

Doing away with income tax would also decrease overall labor costs and increase productivity.

Like making your employer manage and pay for your health insurance. How 17d up is that?

No, I get it. You have to have an EIN if you run most any type of business organization. But if you're running any type of legit business organization (and I'm not suggesting yours isn't legit), you really have to keep up with your number and your IRS documentation.

I wish you good luck.

Yes I understand that. I'm helping someone start a small business. They didn't save the pdf from when they applied for the EIN. They have the EIN number but not the actual document.

So who are you blaming? IRS workers or Congress?

If you chose correctly Congress, what makes you think you’d do anything differently if you were in their position?

Federal workers just enforce the current law. That’s what you mouth breathing ‘blow up the gubment’ 17-tards don’t seem to understand.

Anyone got any tips on getting someone on the phone? Trying to get a copy of a CP 575 letter (or whatever the replacement is called).

I've had someone basically sitting on hold for about 20 hrs the last 4 business days.
Good Luck ...last year they "lost" my payment....my check was cashed in April....then in May I get a notice of penalties from non payment ...that started a series of calls and appointments....I couldn't get a local appointment in Gulfport until July ....I get to the office and I am frisked and forced to show ID .... I wait and i get into my meeting and I see their screens ..I have a new guy training with an older experienced guy ...I have all of my banking transaction numbers printed out ....it's. DOS based system that just spins ...after an hour they bring in a supervisor and he pulls up another system....it looked like a Windows ME screen ...to no avail ...they couldn't pull up any info...but they said my reference number was a correct one ..but they couldnt find anything it would be another 90 days ...all the while I get notices of the penalties continuing to mount . The problem was that nobody in Washington was in an office ...so I had to do ninja work and I got a guys cell phone number ....he was in management but was working from home it was a MD number ...I talked to him it was a civil conversation and he pulled up the info right away and i Hear him say Ohhhh... I'll have this resolved in seven days ....I asked what was the issue and he just said it will be resolved in seven days .....so try to find a someone who has access to a better system.

Congress doesn’t answer the GD phone you 17ing moron

Or send out late notices to people who have paid their taxes and then not respond to accountants who send documents verifying it’s been paid

the person at the top of the irs could fix a lot of that

If liberals or republicans came out and said hey we need $5 million to invest in technology and procedures that will cut irs spending by $1 million a year most people would be like heck yeah. Before you respond about that being a drop in the bucket ITS AN EXAMPLE YOU STUPID 17.

If you can't find your CP-575 letter try this:

Call the IRS Business & Specialty Tax Line at 800-829-4933

They will ask for proof of identity, so the person or business that is on the CP-547 will have to make the call.

Request a 147-C letter which is a replacement for the lost CP-547.

Read SPS while you wait for the USPS to delivery your letter.

You're welcome.

The problem isn’t knowing what to do. The problem is being stuck on hold for 3 to 6 hrs a day waiting to get someone on the phone.

Then when you finally do someone says “you hit the wrong extension you need to call back and press 2”. I did press 2 mother 17er!!

Correct. If you are a W2 employee it should be simple.

login to gubment website
Enter w2 info
Answer a few questions

output - you owe X or you are owed Y

your money will be deposited in 7 to 10 days
I mean, it can be that easy. But people understandably want to take advantage of the Byzantine tax code and all the deductions, credits, and exemptions.

but if you want to just take the standard deduction, it’s pretty simple for w-2 employees.

What I’m saying is you can eliminate a lot of government expenses by just doing away with all that and changing the percentages accordingly.

it gets easier for everyone who is W2 and is better for all of the USA except for about 15% of the IRS and some accountants

I think we should just go to 10% tax on all income above $50k or so. Basically gives you cost of living without taxes and then everyone just pays above that. Unfortunately Rich people wouldn't like it so it won't happen.
Or just tax everyday items a "?%" and get rid of 80% more of the IRS employees. The states collect it and pass it upwards. You buy a coffee at shell you pay the state tax + fed tax, done. for the states that don't have sales tax you just collect the fed tax.

That sounds great. But just W2employees is maybe 10% of the revenue. What about businesses & business owners? You have to define & report revenue & expenses. Investment income? Pass through entities? Etc. that’s where the real money is. And you have to have a tax code & IRS to administer all that.

And these are a big part of what DOGE was/is working on.
DOGE was all fluff and no substance. DOGE simply created chaos in society and the economy for four months.

It continually lied, misrepresented, and speculated instead of sticking to facts.

I am all for finding ways to legitimately reduce spending due to redundancy, and spending in the short term to save in the long term.
But DOGE existed to flood the zone with claims to ensure little could be actually fact checked in real time before the next misrepresented outrage claim was released.

You claimed it's easy.
I showed how it isn't easy.
You called me dumb.
I asked why it hasn't been done, if it's as easy as you claim.

And you don't know why it hasn't been done.
I think you don't know why because it isn't as easy as you claim. It's actually quite complex and there is no single reason why it hasn't been done.

I wouldn’t expect to you to understand this so I’ll explain it to you.

here’s an example. Maybe I’ll give you a few

it’s easy to not break the law but it’s hard for idiots to stay out of jail

it’s easy for me to call the irs but it’s hard to get them on the phone.

its easy to fix equipment at a manufacturing plant, it’s hard to get capital money approved.

it’s easy to fix the red tape if politics weren’t in the way.

It’s impossible to be efficient and effective when consequences don’t exist.
You can’t have a functioning society when consequences don’t exist.
You can’t have a functioning anything (irs, team, military, etc) when consequences don’t exist.

ETA: @mstateglfr coming in to pick one of my examples to disprove my point. #Forrest4TheTrees
