Is Carroo the best player we've ever had?

I know this sounds like complete hyperbole, but I was really thinking about it and he might be. There's a good chance that just about every game he is the best player on the field and I think he has more raw talent than britt and sanu. I think you could argue ray rice but I think carroo is more talented overall.

Either way the guy is a beast, and plays with so much heart. It is really amazing to watch. Was he a big recruit out of hs or an under the radar guy?

You are talking about a lot of players who have worn Scarlet. Robeson was certainly a fantastic athlete from another time and trying to compare players from totally different eras is pretty much fruitless.
But, Leonte will most certainly be one of the best no doubt. And that is pretty damn good.
I think he may well be one of the best we will have ever sent to the pros for sure. As to comparing him with Mo or Britt, the NFL stats will eventually sort all of that out.

Definitely one of the best - he is elite status for us. So many players to compare though - don't forget Ray Ray too.

Sanu had one of the most impressive seasons ever his 3rd year not just for Rutgers but for college football in general. As well as being the majority of the offense for 3 years.

Rice had one of the greatest career stats of any 3 year NCAA career RB.

Leonard's leadership qualities made every single player and coach better.

Caroo is spectacular and if he keeps scoring TDs at will I will put him above Sanu and Leonard but he'd have to score 10+ more TDs this year for me to admit him better than Rice.

I think had Caroo scored the game winning TD yesterday there's a good chance he makes it on the Heismann radar.

Leontee is top 5. I was thinking about this last night. I think he is better than RR talent wise, but loved Ray as well. I just wish we didn't waste his freshman year. Too much talent for essentially just special teams. But that made him special. He will would do anything to play.

Devin McCourty had as dominant a year for a defensive player that I have ever seen, and this translated to a first round NFL pick. RR carried the team. Caroo is great and appears to be in similar company.

His stats are ridiculous. On the second to last drive when he didn't make the grab for the TD, you almost thought for a quick second to go for it and throw it to him again. He is that good. Few teams in the country have a Carroo.

Best ever? Could be.

He has the "it" factor but doesn't have the measurables of someone like Britt. As a college player I would put him in the top 5 definitely ahead of Britt but as an NFL prospect I think the jury is still out. Now if he puts up eye popping combine stats then maybe he is a first rounder. Time will tell.

People like to disregard Britt because he's a POS off the field but he was a better WR. Carroo so so close though.

I definitely don't disregard britt. I would say he is right in the mix of our top 5 players.

Does anyone know if carroo was a highly touted recruit with many offers, or was he an under the radar guy that paid off?

Unnecessary comment. Kenny has cleaned it up, and his off the field transgressions were pretty minor.

He is great, but I think Rice is likely better. In terms of overall athleticism, Sanu is the best- not only was he an outstanding WR, but Schiano moved him all over the field and he never stopped being incredible. No offense to Rice or Carroo or Leonard or Britt or others, but I don't think they could have thrown bombs or caught INTs like Sanu.

He is up there. Marco is up there and I love Stowe who had like 24 tackles in one game.

Carroo in the wildcat, not that I am advocating it, would be pretty tough to stop, much like Sanu.

Carroo has a great hands, can make the tough catches, and has a higher top end speed than Sanu, imo.

Sanu could have played almost anywhere on the field outside of the lines. He was that good too.

Still gotta go with Rice. He was dominant and single handedly won many games for us.

Carroo has better hands though.

I'd take Carroo over Britt. Rice is only guy i'd debate over. It might just be the recentness of Carroo, and sometimes when a WR is being covered well, it goes unnoticed unlike times where a RB is struggling to find yardage and it's so obvious.

I'd still go Rice at the moment, but there are games left for Carroo.

And I loved Sanu, guy was a pass catching machine, but Carroo is so much more explosive, with similarly great hands.

He's the best we've ever had I believe. It's debatable absolutely but I believe him to be the best. If he was part of that 06 team, I think he would have been more important than RR. That's how I reached my opinion. Imagine if Teel's rocket arm was delivering the deep ball to such a natural WR in Caroo. He literally catches everything and has the best hands I've ever seen. His first TD last night is the perfect example of that. He caught that lazer of a throw with his hands away from the body going at full speed. That is incredibly difficult and he made it easy. I was blown away seeing the replay at full speed

To answer the OP's other question, LC was a 4 star, Top 250 (166th) recruit on rivals. He was rated 5th in NJ and the 24th WR nationally.

The NJ top 5 that year was:

Darius
Devin Fuller
Yuri Wright (total bust)
Elijah Shumate (4 year starter at SS for Notre Dame)
Leonte

LC had lots of offers from what you would consider just outside the top tier programs. Notre Dame, Cal, BC, Pitt, UNC, Michigan, Miami, etc.
