Yes. Not a 50/50 deal but 75/25. Would love to see Dak a little more because of his running ability. I like Tyler btw and he should get the bulk of the downs.

2 weeks ago, Tyler was the greatest QB to ever play at MSU.....

have to love our fanbase. Bring back Todd Jordan and Derrick Taite for QB coach.

Well 2 weeks ago we were still playing crappy competition and it was fine for Tyler to sit back in the pocket all day waiting for SOMEONE to get open. Shouldn't have taken a genius to figure out that when we started playing the higher caliber SEC defenses that Tyler was not going to have that luxury. But apparently the slow developing pass routes are the only ones our coaches know.

this is not about Tyler - I think he's a fine QB, however I think it doesn't hurt to add an unknown variable to the equation with Dak and mixing it up a little

you people are mad that we aren't an elite SEC team.....

what did you expect? we're still top 25-30 type team, and a middle of the pack SEC team. consider where we started, and it's not all that bad.

and **** all of you that say we are complacent. we're not. we obviously want to keep moving forward. but at this point in MSU's progression, going to bowl games are all that really matters. we are 7-5 at the minimum.

It is a fair question. Tyler Russell is by far the best QB on our roster, but the last two weeks we have been caught with our pants down.

If we need to shorten the game and control TOP, maybe Dak needs to run a couple of series instead of coming in on 3rd and short.

Back in 2009, we gave Arkansas a pretty good run for their money(28-21 at the end of the 3rd) and dominated Ole Miss running the read option over and over again.

Tyler IS the greatest QB to ever play at MState... The problem isnt with him... Its a system problem. We need to effectively grind out yards. We cant do that with quick three and outs that burn zero time off the clock.

It's much more about our lack of SEC WR's than it is about Tyler

I tend to agree. Tyler may have his weaknesses like most other college QBs, but I haven't seen much this season to blame on him.

That said, if you don't have the receivers for him to be effective, wouldn't that be just as much of a good reason to start giving Dak more snaps?

No

we need a receiving corp that has an average height/built of > 5'10" 185. that will not cut the mustard in the "old man football" conference.

I do not have a problem with Dak, he should play some.

I'd like to see Dak used more in short yardage situations, but I don't really want Tyler to go a long time without touching the ball.

If we're moving the ball, I like bringing Dak in for a play or two, or even a series. But if it's like last weekend, where we come out playing like **** on both sides of the ball, I'm a little worried about say, having Tyler go 3 and out twice, and then sitting out a series or only getting a play or two, so that basically he's coming in cold sometime in the second quarter trying to get something going. Not sure what that would do for his rhythm or confidence.

Of course following that line of thought means we basically only use Dak when things are already going well, and we don't necessarily need him. Doesn't sound like a great strategy when you look at it from that way. I still hesitate at the thought of doing anything more with Dak than short yardage situations; I think it's more important to keep Russell in a rhythm.

This. Tyler can't be blamed if there's no one open. That's the difference between Russell & Bray. Bray just slings it and throws interceptions left and right. Tyler would rather take a sack than turn it over. He's only got 3 INT's on the year, for goodness sake.

We DO need to use Dak in the red zone (i.e., 1st and goal vs. Bama) or in short yardage situations. The more we use him to pick up those kind of 1st downs, the more deadly a play action pass from him becomes.

Most importantly, we need to throw some 17ing deep routes. Even if Russell has to overthrow them by 10 yards, we need to get those safeties and DBs moving backwards. We can't run the 17ing mesh route every play. Just have Tubby run a go once every 3rd series. Anything to take the top off the defense.

Also, it'd be nice if our coaches watched some Patriots tape. They have two good TEs and know how to use them. Our TEs have flat out disappeared in our last two games.

I'm not even fully convinced we are that. If we were truly a Top 30 team we should at least be able to stay on the field with Top 15 teams and the last 2 weeks we haven't even come close to doing that.

Bingo! Our WR haven't gotten any separation all year. Don't know if it is coaching or talent. I will tell you this, Mullen knew he had a passing qb last year. He should have been working on getting him somebody to throw to. UT went out and got one. We should have too.
