The first week of the NCHSAA high school football playoffs is officially in the books. There were some interesting facts that arose during this first week especially in the 1A Classification. In the 1A Classification, there are 64 teams that make the playoffs. Those 64 teams are divided into the 1A and 1AA divisions for the playoffs based on the schools’ ADM numbers.
NCPreps.com is going to take a closer look at the numbers from the week 1 games.
In the 8 first round games of 1A East, the winning teams scored 371 points (46.3) while giving up 110 points (13.8). The margin for victory was 32.5 points and every winning school scored at least 38 points except Southside. The biggest margin of victory was a 56-point win by Plymouth over Weldon while the closest game was Southside defeating South Creek 8-0.
