Is Kyle Monangai on Heisman watch list next season?

You would have to have a mammoth year at RB to considered. Ray Rice ran for over 2000 yards to be considered. That's what would be needed.

Criminal if he is not
Don’t think so at the beginning of the season. You do realize how many other great players already are on the minds of writers who compile the list of Heisman hopefuls. We aren’t a shiny bauble just yet.

I expect him to be talked about quite often by media. Keep in mind ESPIN is not Rutgers friendly so Heisman hype not going to happen.

If the list is say 20 players yes… It doesn’t matter it’s who’s on it at the end .As the announcers said today most people never have heard of Kyle Monangai. Why is that? PR at Rutgers still needs to do their job.

He needs more TDs than 7
Blake Corum had 24
RU's red zone offense sux over and over and over year-in and year-out - spanning multiple decades

Gavin just stole a bunch of goal line carries from him, he might never have similar TD stats to the top RB's if we keep doing that

The Heisman used to mean something, now it’s the “QB from the playoff team that scored the most touchdowns” award
Maybe. But ironic to say this after a QB on a team that was nowhere close to the playoff won this year…

Nope. Need to be on a top 10 team to get the mainstream interest.
This. Plus Rutgers isn't a household name. The best Ray Rice ever finished I think was 7th so unfortunately there is no chance for Mungungi to be on the hiesman list unless he rushes for like 2000 yards.

There's an absolute ZERO % chance that he's on the Heisman list. He's a good RB, even great RB for Rutgers but RB's rarely win Heisman's anymore. Monangai running for 1200 yards and 10 TD's isn't going to win a Heisman, lol. The last RB to win the Heisman was Derrick Henry 8 years ago and he ran for 2200 yards and 28 touchdowns. I swear to got that some of you guys don't even watch football. It's delusion. Jonathan Taylor ran for over 2000 yards in 2019 and didn't get an invite. Blake Corum had 1400 yards and led the big in Rushing and 18 touchdowns and wasn't a Heisman finalist. We finally have a RB go over 1000 yards, which Kenneth Walker did at Michigan State a few years ago and you think he should be a Heisman finalist? The level of delusion in some of these threads are embarassing. It has nothing to do with being a househould name. A RB who runs for 1200 yards and scores 8 touchdowns isn't going to be anywhere near Heisman contention.

The point is Kyle is a very good back . We all should appreciate this player and look forward to watching this team progress under Schiano. The Heisman talk needs to stop until we see how the ‘24 season goes. The chances are slim to none under the system set up by media . They already know who the top 20 candidates are and KM more than likely will not get close . Is that a knock on KM ? No it is actual reality. Just stay healthy and get to the NFL.

This. It’s silly talk. Absolutely zero chance. On top of that, it’s mostly a QB award these days.

Related to that last point (sort of), there may never be another RB elected to the NFL HOF.

A RB who runs for 1,200 yards and 8 TD on a mediocre team isn’t getting ANY Heisman consideration. You are 100% correct re: the delusion.

Hate to say cause Kyle was great for us

Who’s watchlist? Ollie Gordon had about 500 more rushing yards, scored 13 more TDs this year and will be back. KM has a long way to go to be in the Heisman conversation next year.
